hi all unsure if anyone can help,i need to wire a speedo up from useing a 6speedo 02m gearbox which is in a mk1 caddy, its a electric 3pin sensor on the gearbox ,regards the clocks i dont mind modifying somert to fit ,ive a set of mk4 v6 24v clocks ,but im toaly lost on what i can do ,,,any ideas
i tryed the std sat nav ,but its not 100percent on low readings ,bob ,ie if i set off then stop ,not responsive enoegh is the word i was looking for ,heres a few pics im woundering if some other speedo sensor may fit for say a vr6 or 02a/j gearbox etc numbers are 602 179/1j0919149a /make says atw 2002 hope these may help sensor in the box sensor removed inside sensor sensor pins
Hi, Yes the sensor youve got will work fine. ive done this in my mk1. i used mk4 clocks and cut them about to fit into the std mk1 dash. the sender has 3 pins pin 1 is for a switched live pin 2 is input into the dash panel pin 3 is earth Make sure its a pre can-bus clock set to make wiring up other bits easier if its got the part no 919 on it its pre can-bus if its got 920 its can-bus
dam thats a bit of brillaint info ,,as i thought this may have been a hall sensor ,which worked thew the abs instead ,,anyway , so i put 12v igintion feed to pin 1 pin2 input to dash pannel ,im unsure if ive got the right clocks ,as most mk4 2.0/2.3/tdi/and v5 look the same can i use any ,of these range if im just justing a speedo or do i need a surtin type of clocks ? as im not really up on electrical wireing ,whats pre can-bus clock set /?how do i tell this ,,, as ill go hunting 2day for some clocks,, to strip ,is there just one wire to couple up on the speedo ,or another live and earth ,as i dont wont to blow anything
No worries, Most of the modern speedos are on circuit boards so youve got to use the complete set including the rev counter. If youve got a 6 cylinder go for the v6 clocks so the rev counter will be accurate. If the part number on the clocks youve got has 919 in it they will work. but you will need other wires for the clocks to have power, lights, warnings ect. just search for a pin out wiring diagram. It might be easier to get a set of mk3 vr6 clocks they will probably be alot easier to fit and I have a clock pinout available for them.
thats a bit more understandable ,,right ,these are v5 clocks ,so long as i get a mk3 vr6 clocks from a vr6 mk3 golf will this work correctly with my mk4 02m gearbox sensor ,,if so il go get a set this week ,,and ill be back in touch if thats ok with you champo.......
brillant thats really helpfull ,champo ,in your other therd u meationd i had to use the rev counter too ,any idea of that wireing and whats it wired to ,plus which live earths do i need for the vr6 speedo/rev counter to power it up as this will be my need job ,due to crapy wheather
right do you are anyone have a same daigram but for the mk1 caddy deisal instrument pin read out of were the wires go ,or picture ,so i can start contecting wires from the vr6 into the mk1 loom ,as then i can contect my speedo ,if it works ,, so far i think i need pin 3 ?ground pin 21 feul gauge pin 8 or 9 for oil light/temp pin11 battery live bplus pin 12 dash lighting i think pin 13 live igintion switched pin 27 speedo signal pin 21 feul gauge pin 22 left turn signal pin 24 right turn signal pin 25 high bean light i maybe wrong here so if anyone wishers to double check ,,and any help with mk1 instrument wireing
Hi, sorry i haven't got a caddy diesel wiring diagram. When i was wiring up my mk1 to the mk4 clocks I used as many of the clocks functions as I could, your using mk3 clocks so I'd be tempted to wire it like this pin 2 goes to the coolant level switch pin 3 is ground pin 5 is ground pin 8 is for a 1.8bar oil pressure switch this is located on the oil filter housing. probably best to remove the mk4 switch and fit the mk3 switch (not too sure) pin 9 is for a 0.3 bar oil pressure switch on a mk3 vr6 this is mounted on the top of the oil filter housing. on a mk4 there is only one pressure sensor on the housing the one above. you may be able to remove a blank from the filter hosing on the engine you have and fit the additional required sensor. pin 11 is always live connected to the battery pin 12 is connected to your lights grey and blue wire normally pin 13 is switched live pin 16 is for alt warning lamp pin 21 is fuel gauge pin 22 is for left indicator pin 23 is for engine coolant temp gauge pin 24 is for right indicator pin 25 is for high beam indicator pin 27 is for speedo in from pin 2 of your sender this is just whats on the diagram any way but i hope it helps. if you find a wiring diagram post it up and i will let you know what goes where wire colour wise.
nice info champ ,ill write this down as im a bugar for loseing stuf lol ,heres the clocks ,,small prob ,unsure which is pin1 and if there ok to modify,
They look ok have a look at the picture i posted. you will see that at the top of the plug on the back of the clocks the notches are further apart than at the bottom. pin 1 is on the bottom row to the left as your looking at the back of the clocks. Mod wise I guess its worth comparing them with the caddy clocks to see how much bigger they are. you could get away with cutting the front of the clocks off almost back to the clock face. then you would have to rig up a light so the clocks can be seen at night.
If the mk1 diesel clocks are anything like the petrol models then this is the plug wiring. 1,INNENBEL - Illumination - Grey/blue 2,MASSE - Ground - Brown 3,TANK - Fuel level - Violet/black 4,TEMP - Coolant temp - Yellow/red 5,KL 1 - Revcounter - Red/black 6,KL 30 - Perm. live - Red 7,FERNLIOHT - Fullbeam - Blue/white 8,ROLL-MOD - ?? 9,OEL 1 - Pressure sender - 1.8 Blue/black 10,CAT ERG - Coolant Level - Black/yellow 11,OEL2 - Pressure sender 0.3 - Yellow 12,LADE - Alternator charge - Blue 13,BLINKER - Indicator - Blue/red 14,PLUS 15 - Switched live - Black
hiya pal ,i need this too which uve posted but mine dosent have a rev counter as it was just a std caddy deisal ,as ive removed the clocks and some of the colours look differnert ,,all fun and games isnt it lol ,,,
