AutoDigi have released their first digital dash display onto the market for enthusiasts running DTA engine management. These units display live real time data from the DTA ECU via the ECU serial port. Each unit has 9 programmable LED shift lights, for 3 different temperature ranges (i.e. Cold / Warm / Hot)
This allows a lower shift light while the engine is warming up, a normal shift light when in normal operating temperature, and a reduced shift light when running too hot.
This also allows configuration for staged shift lights from Cold Engine / Medium Heat Engine / Normal Engine temperature. ...

Volkswagen’s all-new Golf is making its motor show debut this week in Paris, with the seventh-generation of the evergreen model displaying a new look plus new technology, engines, safety and infotainment features. But no Golf line-up would be complete without the iconic GTI. That’s why Volkswagen has also revealed a concept of the GTI Golf on the stand alongside the standard hatchback.

The new Golf GTI, which is set to go on sale in mainland Europe in early 2013 and the UK in summer 2013, is powered by an advanced engine from the existing EA888 series: a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine with 220 PS (10 PS more than the current Golf GTI). For the first time in the car’s history, the GTI will also be available, direct from the factory, with a ‘performance pack’ which will boost the car’s maximum power to 230 PS.

Onslow-Cole to join Volkswagen Racing cup

British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) driver Tom Onslow-Cole, 25, will race a brand new Volkswagen Scirocco in the Volkswagen Racing Cup on 4 and 5 August at Snetterton.

Onslow-Cole will pilot the new KPM-built, Milltek Sport-backed car to give it a good shakedown, as he prepares for the BTCC meeting the next weekend.

Another of KPM’s Siroccos, driven by James Walker, leads the standings as the championship enters the final third of the season. Walker has won two of the eight races so far and has yet to finish outside the top three, giving him a 64-point lead over his closest challenger, team-mate Mike Neuhoff, who won at Spa in his Golf GTI.

Well, I guess judging by it being gone 10 o'clock, it's going to be myself to call this one, so I'd better jump in quick!

Today marks the 25th Anniversary of the official start of Club GTI. In July 1987, David Pipes put the finishing touches to the first Rabbit issue and sent it out to the formative members, who had earlier met up at the Three Ways Hotel at Mickleton, Gloucester, and put £100 in each to start Club GTI:

This extract from Rabbit 1 confirms the date, which had on the first page mentioned an approach to the Golf GTI-driving Murray Walker (16v of course ) to be our President: 16 July 1987.

From Murray declining our invite, there was a silver lining: we later got the UK boss of VW Motorsport, Nigel Walker, to become our President instead!

From being the only UK Club catering for the Mk1 & Mk2 Golf GTI back in the late '80s, many of us then without driving licences, still in school (or not even born!), through the Noughties and beyond, into a sea of internet forums, keyboards, smartphones, tablets and the Mk7 GTI just around the corner, it's a milestone - and an occasion to mark
