how can people reckomend this, i asked about this months back and got slated, for why make a car you can buy.... i still wanna do it though
i dropped an abf into my mk2 it goes like hell now well worth it i looked at putting the kr head onto my 2e block and decided there was no real point for the amount of work involved took me around 4 n half hours to have the abf in and running
i could buy a 2.0 16v but i have spent a lot of money on this one and it seems point luss to sell it as that wound mean stripping it out and starting again with the new 1 i think it would be quicker to just change the engine so what is involed in changing it to a 16v lump what do i need a part from the engine to make it work
the head will bolt on no probs, and no problems fitting it to the car, its after that the fun begins!
if you want to turbo it a 16v head on an 8v block is a good start as you get a nice compression ratio for boost. A 2e block is also good for boost as it has nice strong rods and piston squirters. To make it work n/a you need to change the pistons for 16v ones, as well as all the bits cerips spoke of. Hardest part of doing this either way is getting the crank timing sproket off, the bolt is done up to uber-torque! If you're going n/a, tbh forget it and drop in an ABF and run it with the ABF managment, much easier. There is even a sticky topic on the subject by Toyotec
Why do you need to take the crank sprocket off to change the pistons - won't they just drop out through the sump if you undo the big ends?
you take the crank sproket off becasue the 16v timing belt is different to the 8v one, you gotta fit a 16v timing belt spoket
i was thinking more a VR lump but yes, yes mate you are right! before some one says it, you cant buy a VR anni
