Just thought i'd start a thread for my daily mint MK4 1.8T. [:D]

I haven't done much to it yet, as ive only owned it for 3.5 months now, and ive got to say, its such a great car. I decided to put a Jetex panel filter in and fitted a new Sony radio & Sub, but thats it atm.
The car has plenty of power there, but could do with a remap soon tbh.
I think Revo can remap my car, which will take it from 150Bhp to 210 for just over 500. [:D]

I want to change the wheels soon, but haven't decided what yet?

It has been well looked after by the one previous owner, a friends dad, who kept it garaged everyday, and kept it fully serviced by VW. The last major service in the handbook of reciepts cost him 980, which again is a good sign.

Wasn't too bad for 4000, and all the other mk4s i looked at around the same price were real bad examples, and most had more than 80,000 on the clock...

When i bought mine it had 50,000 miles on it , and it now sits on 56.000, due to it being used daily by me for work, and weekends as my Mk2 isn't ready just yet.

Anyway here is a few pics -

    Yep, the cambelt was done.

I drives like a new car tbh. Seems like its never been thrashed before, which is good

The other Mk4s i looked at were no where near as nice as this.

koni springs std dampers, and i used a v6 4m0 arb which goes under the drive shaft instead of over.

Will definately look into the Arb from the V6 4motion, cheers mate...
I bet there is a noticable difference with the Koni springs and Arb compared to standard.

So do the standard dampers work well with the lowered springs. Ive always been advised to go for a full fit rather than just the springs, but if they work well i could save some money there [:D]

As for new wheels, i want to go for these -

They look great on a Mk4!!!

Anyone know what they are called and what Vw they come off

To be honest if i werre doing it again i would buy an uprated bar for the gti rather than the v6 one. i only used it as it was 20 quid from the uk-mkivs.net classifieds

The v6 one is supposed to fit on the struts rather than the wishbones so its a pain to fit using the normal drop links. i am in the process of changing the std drop links for home made custom rose joint drop links.

recently changed from the crap michelins to toyo proxes t1 r's that made a world of difference oo.

I find the ride good with my std shocks and koni springs. i would like to upgrade the dampers too, but i am waiting till they wear out.and yes it does handle a load better, just need a rear arb now.

I want to get my daily remapped in the new year but as there are so many tuners to choose from, its hard to decide who would be best...

Can anyone recommend a good tuner that they have used in the past on there 1.8T's,
and have been happy with the results. I want the power to be atleast in the 180-200BHP area.

Any advice would be great... Cheers

Been speaking to the guys at Custom-Code and have decided to go for one of there re-maps.

Been quoted 262.20 all in.Decided to get it done at GTI International, plus I also get a free quarter mile sprint run, which is good [:D]
Output is increased to 205 bhp and 230 ib/ft of torque.

I spoke to a few MK4 owners on uk-mkivs.net who have had the C-C re-map and all ive heard is positive comments, so its looking good.

Will also be replacing the front discs and pads this week. Been thinking about buying a set of Drilled discs from GSF (50 per disc :o) but what make will they be as its not listed.

Is it worth using drilled discs for road use? As im increasing the power i think a good set of discs upfront would be a good idea!

I think they are Zimmermann like below?

Also what do you think about the Brembo Max Discs?
    GSF stock these to.

    Any help would be great!

As for pads, i might go for a set of Pagid fast road pads tbh.
Ive got a new set of the back and they have been great so far.

Just a couple of pics of the Mk4 atm -

Go for the Brembo's. Dont really like drilled discs as they can crack.

    Really?

Might stay away from those then.

So with the grooved Brembos Max , would these be quieter?

On my old scirocco i run drilled disks and mintex race pads but i soon got fed up of needing to use both feet on the brake peddle until they were hot. I switched to pagid pads and the combo was brilliant. Can't say they were noisey and they didn't crack even after 20k of a stupid 18 year olds do or die braking efforts.

Plus they look nice sat behind your alloys, all shiney and holey!
