I'm doing a 2L 8v conversion into my Mk2 using the AGG block and in need of a definitive answer! So far I have 3 different options... Keep with my current digi dizzy Get a gear and plate from TSR Use a dizzy from a 2E block Any ideas?
You only have 2 options there really - either you can use your own dizzy with the spacer ring and larger gear, or you can use a 2E dizzy. Both work exactly the same, but the 2E dizzy is a bit of a tidier solution...
i used the PB dizzy and had no problems whatsoever, if you use the 2E dizzy you will need to buy an adaptor ring from tsr, why pay the extra cost?
no, like the TSC said use a 2e dizzy (will cost you the price of a new dizzy) or use your digi dizzy (which will no doubt cost you the skin on a knuckle changing the gear on the bottom over plus the price of a spacer ring, both do the same job. i had a digi dizzy with a diff ring & spacer an a 3a block, and am now using a 2e dizzy on a 2e block it will become apparent when you try to put it together what you need.
What you need is exactly as Farquare said - PB dizzy and adaptor gear/ring, or 2E dizzy. The PB dizzy has the wrong gear on the bottom, and is too small to fit in the dizzy hole in the 2E, 3A, or AGG blocks..... Don't ask for a dizzy from a Mk3 Gti tho, it will cost you more over one from the same 2E engine you can find in the '89-93? model passats.....
2e dizzy Just got a dizzy that i was told was from a 2e engine for my agg conversion. Does anyone know the part numbers for this dizzy so i can confirm i have the right one?
i've got a dizzy from my mk1 2l conversion left mk1 dizzy with the gearing for the 2l block, if any one wants it?
don't know if anyone will notice this but... if tsr are now closed, what is the alternative when it comes to their adapter ring for the dizzy when doing this conversion? i'm going to attempt the conversion with my k-jet, so if i read it correctly, i have to use the original dizzy from my block with the adapter from tsr, so does anyone know of anywhere else making this adapter? or have a spare one from an unfinished project? thanks
you need a 2e or PB dizzy to work with the std MK2 GTI digifant injection system, the later AGG/ABK/whatever dizzy will not work as the hall sender pulse is different. Plus the later ones are keyed so they wont turn in the block! You fit your old PB head to the 2.0 block, and all your existing engine managment plugs straight in. If you were to use a 2e/AGG/ABK/Whatever head, you cant fit your old inlet manifold to it so you would have to convert to the 2e/AGG/ABK/Whatever injection system
