Didn't realise you'd had the mk1 THAT long. I went to GTI festival at Avon park in 1995 in my first Golf , wish I'd still got that.
Oh yes 15 Long Years Nearly ( Had to sign it over to Mick Clements for six months due to Divorce reasons ) so it should have 6 previous owners but has 8 due to that. Yeah GTI Fest 1995 went down with a few of the Lads i think Phatty was with us and a few more from York, Gav Walsh's White MK1 next to mine from York (now lives is OZ).
Nova second photo you can see the D&W Badgless twin grill !! Still got it in the garage !! anyone notice the Scirocco wing mirror drivers side ! still got that in the garage too. lol
great mk1 brookster. the mims look awesome on a big bumpered mk2, not sure about on the mk1 though. golf country wheels FTW
God i remember reading about your car years ago now in the rabbit mag. Didn't you buy mick clements old 16v engine from him , when he went all G60 ?
Yep it was Mick's old 1.8L 16v pushed 154bhp 129 lb/lb as standard with K&N Filter and 4-1 Manifold. Changed to ABF Bottom end and Gas Flowed Head in 1998 though much better engine. can't remeber if they were MIM 2800 or 1800 which were the one's which had the deeper dish with the spokes that curved inwards ? were they the 2800 ? the laquered finish on the MIM's used to peel off after 12 months tho.
Good thread, plenty more pics to come I hope. The really windy Avon Park event? I was at that one too!
if they have the flat spokes with the dish i think they're mim 1900's. still see them come up on greedbay every now and then.
Thats the one's 1900's Jason Bennett's had them on his Red MK1 1.9L 16V Here's my spare set of wheels ATS Cups my favourite wheel of all time ( Very 80's style and Classic) Chris Bennetts legendary MK1 2.1L 16V With ATS Cup's
