    Hi Guys,

Can anyone give me some info on how to remove the fuel pump from a mk3 golf? I had a look last night, removed inspection cover, pulled out the fuel level gauge sender/float but cannot remove the actual pump. Haynes says to turn it anticlockwise, however i can only turn it a little and it still won't lift out.

    Advice much appreciated chaps

    Nick

the pump is on the actual float sender assembley. you need to undo the jubilee clip on top of the pump and disconnect the terminal. Gently use a screwdrive to loosen the rubber hose where it is attached to the pump then just pull it off.

Isn't that how to remove it on a mk2 where there is a lift pump and a main pump under the car? Mk3's there is only the 1 pump which is in the tank.

Its best to start with very little fuel in the tank.
You twist it one way as its clipped into the tank and then navigate it out.

Are they hard to twist to release from its fitting? I didn't want to turn it too hard as didn't want to break it .
