My last engine went to 10.5K 'accidentally' - the result was 2 broken springs, but the lash caps stayed put
Probably worth mentioning that the valve clearances I've seen specified from Cat Cams and Schrick are in a range of 0.2mm to 0.35mm, so this is the ballpark level of slack which should be in there.
depends on cam profile - I was told 7800 for a 16V but Badger Bill has had his 20VT up to 8500 with hydros and std cams
Pass, but Badger5 screams his 1.8T past 8k, though the 5v buckets are small and he puts it down to the Motul oil shear strength.
LOL @ oil shear. ok lads, I think ive found out all i need to know on this one, great thread, thanks again, ill ''lash'' it out on the drawing board later.... ... .. .!
Yeah but sure you still have 8 normal sized ones in a 1.8t? And...! lol, they all sit over the spandangley hot exhaust valves, so how is that different? Huh?!! We need to get badger5 on the phone right away
the motor has been to 9400rpm on the logs, but hardcut is sat at 9000rpm on hydro i put it down to the motul 300v oil 15w50 oil i use (or maybe just plain luck) 9000rpm limiter is new to me so next to no milage on engine.. but ut was revved hard to 8200rpm for 2 race seasons.. one buzzed gear selector break, broke a valve spring (std one) but supertech springs were since fitted and all was well
