I spotted them on ebay, look like vr6 15s but these are BBS 442 ET33. I thought the vr6 were more like 42-43 ??? The spokes do look like they are set further back in the dish.

I must admit I did skim read that.
The design does look like the original wheels from a MK3 VR6, but as Justin pointing out, mine has different specs and offsets to your picture.
In addition there is a step on the outer edge of the rim not present on the items that were on my car.
Can you find any part number for the rim?

I only spotted them as I was looking for a set of VR6 wheels for my mk2 so I could run 288 brakes. I have the early VR6 wheels on that I think look almost period for the mk2.

The ET of 33 would be ok for the mk2 though although the price he wants I would want them attached to a car!!! And also would they actually accommodate the 288mm brakes.

Well I waited and waited on the listing being constantly relished and struck a deal and bought them. So wait and see if they turn up! !! I guess they are passat aftermarket BBS 442 but at ET33 they will be perfect on the mk2

They might not cover 288s at ET33...

I bought some wheels for my VR6 at a local wheel specialist, where you select the size and style of wheel and they fit them for you (supposedly in the correct ET...). They fitted fine, until I came to change the pads about 6 months later; they wouldn't fit back on with fresh pads. Turns out they were GTI offset of ET35 vs the correct VR offset of ET43... [:x]

On the tuv approval for them it does quote all the mk3 models and high kw engines so I think they should. And typical a set appear on Gumtree in Scotland for 120 !!!

My only guess is bbs made them as an option for vw to sell aftermarket from the production models.
