I've got some RS reps coming. They are 16x7 - whatever the 7 means.

I'm running standard height at the moment but it will probably go to most likely 20-30mm lower.

What tyre size would you run? 195/40?50?

And what tyres Toyo Proxes TR-1 seem to be in my budget, of about 50 a corner. What else?

195/45/16 will be fine on a 7" wide rim. Assuming road use I've been buying Uniroyal Rainsports for the last couple of years - been very happy with them especially, as the name suggests, in the wet.

I've goT them on my current wheels and they are fantastic but they are a bit pricey in this size :(

I was looking at the wrong size 45 a corner, look what I'm ordering [:D]

i have used both on my golf in the same sizes, would recommend either.

i dont think you will have any stretch at all on a 7'' wide rim using 195/45/16

16" clear 312mm brakes on my mk4 gt tdi

But you may need a spacer, dependent on offset and wheel design.

I forgot they were 16's so that won't be an issue.

    Lets hope i won't!

You'll have an ever so slight stretch with the tyres in that size on that width of rim but really it's negligible and hardly noticeable. I have this size tyre currently on my RS722 rims on my Mk3.
