Last January I drove to Scotland one Sunday to pick this up

It had been converted to syncro running gear by a guy from ed38 but had gone through several different hands since he gave up and not a lot had been done since about 2010

    A few pics

It came with AGU o2m and syncro rear beam

The last year I have been collecting parts as they come up inc another 1984 Nevada beige 3dr which donated the brown interior parts. Plans are 400-450bhp 1.8T Audi TT diff with controller and the 6 speed

Today the car was stripped engine bay prepped ready for primer, then doors bonnet tailgate where prepped
Think the shell is going to need a good bit of prepping as its had rear quarters and it's not the best job but we will do our best
Also the underneath has been stone guarded then painted and paint has cracked so it's not going to be any show winner! But let's see how it goes

    Some pics of today's progress

I have the rear diff and the conversion brackets ready to fit to the rear beam, new front wishbones, powder coated subframe, weitec coilovers, 16v front hubs, prop shafts, driveshafts, 5 AGU engines so plenty to choose from! I've got a emerald ecu and the wiring already and a new genuine garret gt28rs which before you say won't make the power I'll use this to start with the 550cc injectors!

I want some wrap around bucket seats which I want to retrim in brown/tan will see how it goes

Panels will be in primer tomorrow, then hopefully the shell by Thursday, then can get it painted! Sorry Eddie it's not RED

As you can see a bit more progress was made today, and the way it was prepped/painted before wasn't good! So some of it has been taken back to bare metal but not to much to give us to much work as it's just not viable!
The doors, bonnet, tailgate were etch primed then primed, the body was prepped and will be etch primed and primed tomorrow, once shell is primed it will be cooked for about an hour then it will be moved out and then we should be ready for the doors, bonnet and tailgate to be freshly painted, they will get a guide coat the be flatted with 500 grade 3m discs that is fine for a solid in this colour!
Obviously this isn't going to be a concours restoration but will be relatively nice!!
As I'm breaking the grey GTI i will bolt the rear beam on whilst I weld the brackets on for the TT Rear diff.
    I'll Find some more pics

Working it out 550cc injectors should be able to produce 440bhp but what are your thoughts on turbo? How much boost can a gt28rs produce?
Eddie I'm sure you will let me know?

I do have a T3/4 hybrid with 063 rear and 50 compressor but not roller bearing

Panels were set up this afternoon after they had been wet flatted and some new seam sealer put in the bottom of the doors and tailgate, but time ran out so will be painted first thing tomorrow
