    Could have been worse!
Just seen this as well. Hope it is only the arms that are damaged.

Rust on the door has been sorted, paint isn't the best match colour wise but it's not rusty anymore! Which makes first impressions of the car better!

I've fitted new standard height rear springs, and the boost gauge that was screwed in the a post with a bit of wood has been refitted with a new pod

I've also found my AEM afr gauge so will get that fitted as probably top of the list gauge wise

So we made it to brands yesterday in the S3 and the seat Leon cupra R after a mad day getting the suspension re-aligned on the S3 then the breather pipe had a crack which we thought would be a simple fix which obviously wasn't! this was 1pm and we had to be ready to leave at 3pm
The brakes hadn't been bled on the seat and I still had the harnesses to finish off and the guy who was using it hadn't even driven it yet! I needed a shower and to get changed, load the cars on each trailer and check over (the seat had leaking copper washer on the brake pipe which was nipped up on the trailer) fingers crossed!!!
We set off about 3.10 headed to the nearest petrol garage to top up with super and snacks we arrived at the track about 3.40pm which was busy with the guys on track and the arrivals for the evening
Signing on commenced followed by the drivers briefing then we had to find a garage along the pits which was a task in itself! I got both cars off the ramps and there was still people trying to see if the garage was free?? Surely they could see I was unloading lol

Cars where noise tested which wasn't an issue as each car was 85db with track limit off 102db and then we lined up for the sighting laps which to be honest where a bit quicker than expected, Nigel was driving to start and the 3 laps were over in no time, back into the pits and we swapped drivers for the next sitting laps at a more slower pace to which I was a bit perplexed but the car got a good six laps in!

Everyone was back in and we were ready for the evening it was off to a fast pace and approx 10-15 mins in, the Alfa was off at Paddock hill bend into the gravel and tyres, stopping the track time for about 15mins

Everyone was back in again, we checked fluids and had a cold drink ourselves then lined up ready to go again, Nigel was driving and we had a good five/ six laps out and back in again, Greg and Paul were going well in the Set. I took over and had a warm up lap then stepped it up for the second brakes were spot on and all seemed ok I came round druids and got a whiff off something burning thought it maybe brakes and came into the pits for a quick check all seemed ok so straight out again for some more laps with Nigel's wife in the passenger seat which she seemed to enjoy?

The guys in the Set were having a great time and we're back in as needed to refuel and swap drivers so in for ten mins ( they should have stopped for fuel on the way!) as this seemed to be a constant most off the evening, a few laps later they pulled in and were saying they had a puncture but when checked the n/s wheel bolts had come loose, which was lucky they got back! All wheel bolts were checked, car refuelled and back out, in the briefing they did state wheel bolts should be checked due to heat cycles from the brakes! The Audi wheel bolts were fine

I had a good few fast laps with a BMW M4 coming past on the straight but caught him on the twistys as he really didn't have a clue, there was a couple of quick Clio's one stripped out and another one which a guy had paid a 1000 for it! And had put some decent coilovers on it had covered 140,000miles and it was like a rocket ship chatting to him later he said he had another Clio which he had spent about 10k on but it still wasn't as quick as this one!

During the evening I had a go in the Set which was a different feel to the Audi wasn't as planted but had a great feel to it with the back lifting and sliding which was very controllable on the throttle especially at paddock as it dropped away! My only concern was the brake pedal was quite hard as you pushed it at the end of the pit straight and druids! :o more of that to come!

Nigel had been out in the Audi and you could see his lines getting better but he wasn't happy with his laps which I said doesn't matter as it will only get better with time! The Audi was still smoking but no apparent reason but was running a little hot so it was brought in for a cool down

once it had cooled down I went out for a couple of laps and then came in about 15 mins from the end I had passed two mk2 escorts one just before paddock hill and the other as I exited it! i thought I'd let Nigel go out for the last few laps and came in, as we swapped drivers the was a commotion as the dreaded M4 had hit the mk2 escort on the right rear quarter at the end of cooper straight!

Nigel got to the end of the pit lane and had no brakes! I had boiled the fluid on the last few laps obviously so he came back round the pits and parked up, time was up virtually so we got the trailers ready to load up

Overal a great evening which was well organised by msvt and we are booking the 1st of august for the next one, which we have another two guys going in a couple of stripped out fiestas with puma engines

Cars were dropped off and we headed to our local for a well deserved pint!

Since having the cars back I've fitted the roll cage to the Set and found there was a cracked servo vac pipe which will be replaced tomorrow along with new brembo discs and pads all round, typ200 brake fluid and polybushes for the front wishbones ready for the 1st

The Audi we found a leaking rear driveshaft oil seal which was dripping onto the exhaust hence the smell! New diff seal ordered and oil
As well as brake fluid change to typ200 which should solve the boiling fluid issue

I've also edited the brands post above

Replaced the brake fluid today with ATE TYP200 this should cure the boiling fluid issue, power seemed to be down so plugged it in and had maf issue cleared faults and seems to be fine so will see how it goes Tuesday eve

The Set has had new brembo discs and pads all round, a new servo vac hose as it was split, fitted black series poly bushes to the front wishbones which was a pig of a job to get the old ones out and new ones in but it's done ready for Tuesday

The following track evening was 18th august which was the usual setup with s good mix of cars we had a great evening which luckily was uneventful apart from the seat lost turbo boost
The Audi was checked over ready for curby on the 27th august and loaded up on the Sunday ready for the 6am start Monday!

We had an easy drive up to curby arriving about 9.30 quickly unloading the car as sighting laps were just about to commence, Nigel (my additional driver) went out for sighting laps and I jumped in with Eddie in jenvee for a lap, I must say it felt very impressive
A quick check of fluids and we lined the Audi up ready for my first lap of curby, Nigel jumped in the passenger seat to get another lap to view, Paul (trackcab16v) ushered us out onto our first lap and into the first corner the rear end felt seriously loose! I first thought maybe cold tyres but into the second corner we were sideways again! Then a knocking from the rear!!
So I didn't even make it to the start of my flying lap! Pulled into the pit area and the new rear adjustable lower arm had broken at the weld nearest the wheel.
Luckily we had been at brands a few weeks before with the same arms and were doing about 105 mph at some points and it hadn't broken there which really could have had some serious consequences

    IMG_0230.jpg

Do I get some scene points!!!!

    IMG_0231.jpg

The car was loaded back on the trailer and we looked forward to our 2.5 hour trip home lol

Was great to meet a few fellow members and a big thank you to the event organisers, sorry I didn't stay long but that finished my day lol

Last week I removed the rear arm to find a seized rose joint on the passenger side which obviously was the cause but I've re-welded the end of the threaded end which a more substantial weld and also a good bead around the threaded side which will stop the action of it pulling out of the end also (pics to follow)

The original weld which is not much

    IMG_0227.jpg

Cleaned up ready to be welded

Friday I got a message from a friend saying there is another S3 available, rolling shell only so a quick view and I left a deposit

The guy said he'll drop it off and it turned up this morning

    IMG_0222.jpg

    IMG_0223.jpg

    It's fitted with
    brembo 4 pots
    Stainless exhaust
    Full recaro leather
    Coilovers
Genuine 19in BBS CH alloys (will sell these)
    New charge cooler kit
    Fully polybushed

No engine or box or ecu but that's not really an issue as I have 4 engines and a spare box lol I also have a wiring loom or two for emerald ecu a spare gt28 turbo and manifold (can you see where this is going!) oh dear!

    More to follow this week

New S3 looks very clean looking forward to see what you do with it
Surprised how little weld that tie bar had on it think even if the hub rose joint had been ok it would have come apart at some point they look very similar to some of the ones you get for the US just red instead of blue what make were they ?

Not sure of the make and no response from the seller as yet

Went through the car today removed the leather interior And washed it

I'm not sure if it was being stripped by the previous owner or rebuilt, new pads are fitted one side front and rear driveshafts are not bolted in place on the rear, rear cradle has been painted as has haldex

Found receipts for peliquin diff, JE Pistons, intergrated engineering boxes in the car! downpipe has 2.5in v band flange so def was something different to the k04 as standard

I also found the ecu which I'd like to get checked if anyone can do that for me?

New discs fitted front and rear with ebc red pads, uprated rear antiroll bar, polybushed front arms
