20v engine number

    Hi just bought a mk2 golf 20v but I need to find the engine number to change the log boook but can't find it. Where about would it be?

    I'm pretty sure you can find it on the sticker on the cam belt cover

    Every motor has this number??? Ive an AJQ engine and doesnt have this number..... my motor is out of car and has a sticker with AGU description.........

    I think every engine dose aslong as the origional cambelt cover and sticker is present. The cylinder head lifting point should confirm your code ie AGU/AJQ.
