My second bike around 1969? Modified for Enduros.

It started life as a Greeves 24TFS Trials bike. I bought it for a song with seized motor and buckled front wheel.
I re-built the wheel with new rim and spokes.
I re-built and tuned the engine. Although a trials bike it actually had a de-tuned Griffon/Silverstone race engine.
Just look at fins, the exhaust pipe and the clutch cover.
Copper spacer, to reduce compression ratio, was thrown.
Ports opened out to Griffon sizes.
    Griffon AMAL carb. fitted
Eric Housley in Clay Cross re-built the crank after I had inserted alloy plugs in the flywheel holes to increase primary compression.

The little boy is my nephew would went on to ride off-road bikes.
I rode it to work, but can anyone spot why it was illegal?

My second Enduro Bike 1974. Took this photo as soon as I got home - straight out of it's crate the day it was delivered to the dealer!

ISDT MZ. This bike won the first six ISDTs. Jawa then took over.
    Ex-works. Frame number: 007! 37 bhp from 250cc.
To my knowledge only two were sold in the UK and as luck would have it the main UK MZ dealer was in Sheffield.
I only found out about this one because my mate bought 006 and told me to get to the dealers quick!

I would have preferred a works Jawa but they they were 1000 and the MZ was 400.
in 1975 MZ built a newer version very similar to the JAWA. Better forks and better rear suspension. It was 850.
I recon they were selling these old models uber cheap to make room for the new version.
First 'twin plug' head I ever came across!
One plug in the top and one in the side, which you can see.

Just like SKODA, uninformed people used to deride MZ, but that thing would blow off KTMs and Yamaha XT 500s.
Because the air filter was high up under the seat I could wade rivers with the water just below the exhaust tail pipe.
In the cylindrical tail pipe was an adjustable expansion chamber.
In the leather box on the tank were different carb. jets, expansion camber extension pipes and engine sprockets, with an instruction book on how to tune the carb. and gearing for different competition types.
I.E. From slow grunt (side plug) to flat out screaming (top plug).

No. That seems to have been acceptable to the police as most trials lads had that set-up.
But. You are in the right area!

See if you can spot the dealer fitted accessory on the MZ. It's quite obvious!

You might well be correct about that although I never got stopped for it!

So. There may well be two illegal features.
Dealer fitted accessory, which was a legal necessity, was what I was told about!

Don't follow GPs theses days. I took Elaine to Anglo-American Series races, at Oulton park, on one of our first dates though!

Myself and Sir Hugh Rossi. He was the witch's Health Minister.
Although I am an avid socialist he was a nice guy and we got on OK.
I was secretary to one of his committees. I had to take the job as Thatcher had destroyed British Industry and I been out of work for 18 months. Any port in a storm!
You would be surprised how much attention one gets when writing on House of Commons headed paper!
And where you end up eating!

Myself and the 'WITCH'. I am doing well keeping my hands from around her throat.

This is after a dinner at Lancaster house. I also ate and drank good ale across the raod in Clarence House

I only see an occasional MotoGP, courtesy of Channel 4 highlights ... due to their move from Eurosport to BT Sport. Do catch all the British and World Superbikes though [:D]

They should be. They were taken by Tory Party newspaper lens men. Mind you there is glare on Sir Hugh's specs.!

They probably recorded everything that fascist cabinet did!?

It certainly was interesting Mat. That's why I am doing this.

We 'Baby-Boomers' were very lucky. There were more jobs available which were interesting, better cars and motorbikes, better beer, etc.

I despair for young people today as I don't believe that the opportunities are there these days.
UK industry is joke with only half-a-dozen, or so, companies producing world beating products!

There is no 'Warning Device' on the Greeves!
Not that the 'hooter' on the MZ could be heard with that motor screaming!?
    But:
The law is the law, even though an 'Ass' (another Dickens quote!) - peep-peep (Enid Blyton quote!)

    Thanks Justin.

    To quote Dickens again:
"It was the best of times. It was the worst of times." - A Tale of Two Cities
As you can guess I like Dickens. His novels are the best social commentaries of the 19thC!

    The 80s started really well:

The best music ever - The Clash - Jam - Dr Feelgood - The Undertones - Madness - etc.

Cockers were storming ahead. We had built the most advanced taper leaf spring production shop in the UK.
We were supplying Williamd F1 with coil springs for the ground effect cars.
We were just starting to get into companies like: SAAB, MERC, VOLVO, etc.
I made three trips to Sdertlje to meet with SAAB engineers and I would spend hours just watching the small teams of seven building perfect cars. SAAB 99 TURBO

Then Thatcher destroyed Leyland, who were our biggest customer, and the chairman of the group shut Cockers.

I spent 18 months unemployed with a big mortgage and two toddlers. We had only just moved!

It is an irony that the first job I got afterwards was working for the witch's fascists!

Quite so. But his 'HOOTER' would have been too big and heavy!

P.S. Does the barman in the Saracen's Head still say:
"I am sorry sir but we only serve half pints in 'this' bar!"

I read all of the Noddy Books as well as Mr Men and Rupert to my kids.

I even wrote a synopsis of one of the Noddy books on this forum!

    http://clubgti.com/showthread.php?212917-Wot-you-reading-now&p=1888286&viewfull=1#post1888286

    The book:
Just read this book about two proto-chavs.

    The Plot:
These two are breaking an ASBO by going into town in order to do a bit of ethnic minority bashing.
They use the younger one's ghey yellow and red cabrio, and head for mayem.
Unfortunately, the car is well known to Betty Battenburger's Boys in Blue.
They are foiled in their quest as the "Plod" steps in just as they are about to run over a British Commonwealth citizen.

    The Title:
Noddy and Big Ears go to Town
