Just a quick update, Ive been working away a good bit, but she has been blasted and is waiting to be collected when I get home, I managed to clear a space also so I can paint the underneath, inner floor and engine bay shortly, then some shiny bits will be put on and she will be off to the painters to get a fresh coat.

So, after about 5 years of the car being sat in a corner I'm back at it. Theres more rotten holes than I remembered but progress is being made!

It's on its side again, and I'm spending all my spare time making up patch panels and getting it all welded up, with help from the better half. 20220518_150431.jpg 20220518_212403(0).jpg 20220519_134036.jpg 20220518_212403(0).jpg 20220518_150431.jpg 20220519_134036.jpg

Painter is coming to give a quote next week for bodywork and paint.

As for mechanical side of things, I'll be going with an 02A box I have lying about, but with 02J shifter etc (if i can manage to find a shift tower and the parts to make it all fit in an 02A)

Got a bit more done tonight, since it was blasted then dry stored a few years ago it got some surface rust, so wire brushed it back to bare metal then applied Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 to the areas that wont need any welding. 20220521_205257.jpg

Everyone loves a build thread. 5 year break is a long one though. Good to see your other half welding! Mine just moans about how much time I am putting into my car rather than anything else.....

When I read the first bit and you said “it’s on its side” I expected a jig  Whatever works though
As others have said, love a build thread, keep it coming.
That Hydrate 80 is great stuff.

Yeah 5 years is too long, but some other projects and life took over Haha

I did think about building a jig, but I'd rather spend the time getting on with it, plus tue body work has plenty dents so wanst too worried, but thankfully nothing damaged when it was flipped.

Least you had a forklift to assist rolling, when I did my first minor it was brute force and a load of tyres plus a fencepost to prop it.
