are all mk3 golf gti 8v's basically a 2E engine with codes ADY, AGG, AKR & ABA etc ?

    as per subject are they all same if I need 2E distributor for a mk2 coversion ?

    The 2E runs a 4 window dizzy and acts as a crank trigger.

    ADY and AGG engines, run a crank trigger like an ABF engine, and the dizzy carries 1 window for cylinder recognition only.

    The "non 2e" engines have a different diameter dizzy to the 2e, larger than Digi for example, but you can fit a 4 window Digi style one with an easily machined adapter. And use the matching intermediate shaft.
