8 valve kjet starting issue

    So as some of you know I just got my mk2 back on the road. The problem I have know is that it doesnt want to start and when it does start it takes 15-20 minutes of trying to get it to start. Itll crank and start to fire but wont run. I can hear the fuel pump and smell fuel. Can someone please point me in the right direction so I can get my mk2 running reliable again.

    if its bad from cold maybe the fuel injectors are leaky. to start with go thru all the basic kjet troubleshooting tips in here, injector tests are in there anyway:

    just ignore all the 16v specific bits, basic timing is done at idle with vacuum line to dizzy disconnected and plugged. the ignition timing diamond is the same as for the 16v piccy above, but usually you can add a few more degrees advance. idle and co is just done when hot after timing is set, no special procedures required.

    to check the static timing go by the info in my digifant troubleshooting guide, obv ignore all the setup bits just look at the part which covers belt timing:
