Car prep progressing and in reassembly stage. Front shocks are quite nice with electronic adjustment. Several springs listed in parts catalog, mine are 8S0 411 105DC with white/violet/white colour marking, but cannot find anywhere what poundage these are. Possibly other factory options could be used if I could figure out the code. Probably made by Suplex.

Negative camber topmounts going on these from 034Motorsport. Have used these rather than spherical bearing items as sphericals are not allowed in Road Modified regs.

Struts can be taken off Mk3 TT without removing hub or driveshaft but do need to detach arb links on both sides to allow enough room.

Have calibrated steering rack and tie rods so its perfectly central so good to go now for setup. New nuts and bolts for anything removed.

Inside car GoPro mount sorted. Took a while to figure out as limited positions on a road car when you are not allowed suction mounts (msa regs), dont have headrests on metal supports (tt seat design), and you dont want to stick a big self tapper through nice interior trim. Bits ordered. Pics in due course. Love figuring out stuff like this :)

Std vs 034 topmounts (offset clear to see adding neg camber), new genuine Audi front disks (338x30mm) and Neuspeed isweep brake pads.

One pad has a nick in it to take a pad wear sensor. Sensor only fitted on right hand side though. Tough luck if you wear left one out first LOL.

Disks are HEAVY. Project coming to make some lighter full floaters ;)

I know it's the pads, just wondering what especially it referred to?
As in, is it like the J hook on discs etc.

Apologies the real answer is its an example of Japanglish. iSweep is a Japanese brake and suspension company, Ishikawa Engineering Co., Ltd.

Wot he said. iSweep is their brand name. I have not used them before and do know if they are any good yet, but Neuspeed generally do pretty good stuff and I doubt would distribute poor quality products, and these are the only 'performance' pad I can find available yet for the TTS. Wanted to run Performance Friction but they don't make the pad shape. Ferodo make a similar pad shape but not yet with a sport friction material. No responses from Mintex. Nothing apparent from Tarox. Don't want to use EBC.

Range of pad materials available in each pad shape:

I have gone for 2500 compound for sprinting - bit more bite and heat range over standard and still very active from cold.

I bought mine in US but Awesome GTI in UK can get them too.

Hi Rob hopefully see you at the next Curby in my TT. Not as clean and tidy as yours and lacking some of the comforts.

Don't know who you are thinking about mapping the car but Rick at Unicorn Developments in Stockport is very good with these, they run a Golf R as a development car. He does DSG software as well.

Those brake pads and calipers do look like a slightly unusual design, doesn't look like much air can move through the caliper.
Looked at the Extreme tyres not sure I would be happy with remoulds on a race car. how do they ensure consistency with the tyres, so much of a tyre performance is in the construction of the carcass and sidewall not just down to the tread pattern or compound.
The Pilot sport cup 2 looks to be a very capable tyre compared to the more traditional r888 etc, although probably not much in it.

Hi - are working with Revo on some engine and box developments right now so more info on that soon. The caliper is a lovely thing - very light and being monoblock looks very stiff with the enclosed front section - as you say not open at the front to allow much air flow but I am sprinting mine so the brakes are not going to get red hot for too long. Most of the air comes in through the disk anyhow.

    More on calipers here:

Have sent the Extreme VR2s back - there was something very odd with the set I had and I certainly wouldn't expect 2.5kg difference in weight across 4 supposedly identical tyres. Must have been dramatically different carcasses and thus likely to have very different track behaviours. I was prepared to give them a try as I know people who have used them to success in hillclimbing, but that variance put me off. By contrast, a set of Toyo R888Rs were almost identical in weight.

PSC2 does look good, but apparently is really not good at all in wet conditions. So I'm trying the R888Rs. Toss of a coin tbh.

That's exactly what I was trying to say regarding remould tyres, Not entirely sure how you can have 2.5Kg difference between tyres that only weigh 11Kg that's crazy.
If you don't get what you want with Revo, Give Rick a call he is very good.

Tested launch control today and have to say its very effective indeed. Gearbox in Sport mode (I do this by switching Drive Select to Dynamic setting), press ESC button once to set ESC to Sport mode (still operating but less intrusive), left foot hard on brake, mash the loud pedal.....4.5K revs appear......release brake, BOOM. No drama, no wheelspin, just loads of go go go. Bet it will do just the same in the wet. Like that. A lot. :)

OK, so last weekend was the first races of 2018 and we were at Anglesey with Longton and District Car Club for R1 and R2 of their championships. Being the start of April, these events often have, lets say, changeable weather and sure enough as the event got closer it looked like wet all day Sat and drying on Sunday. As this year I had heated seats and a roof, I was less concerned :) Sat was a single lap of the National Circuit and Sun was a lap of the (awesome) big GP Circuit. This was also the first event with the new car so it sure was going to be interesting how it all performed.

We arrived Fri afternoon and waited for a trackday to finish before walking the track. Its an old habit that I still like to do and get the confidence that no new tarmac had been laid over the winter or any holes or surface changes had appeared. Its a cracking circuit....

So off to bed at local B+B and get ready for the morning. Sure enough next day was hammering it down and lucky we were sharing a garage with mate Phil and his Mod Prod Fiesta 2000 ST.

This is a cracking car prepared to the highest standards with a full on 2L Duratec (circa 260hp) and a Quaife sequential box. Very quick car.

Times that were worthy of note were 1E Class Record (MX5 1800 supercharged) 63.15, 1B record Pug 306 66.58, 3B record Andy Larton 106 59.14, and my 4B record in the Radical of 52.59.

Only other car in 1E was a TVR S2 2900cc.

Into P1 and just had a run round, really wet, 70.74.
    Same again for P2, 68.89.
Into timed runs and decided to try launch control, even though it was proper wet and I was on intermediate R888R tyres. Big mistake, loads of wheelspin and car nearly turned into the barriers off the line, 68.55.
Timed 2, 67.50, getting better, got a lovely drift on through Peel.
    Timed 3, 67.50 again.
Then for last run of day decided to try and get a bit more pace on around Rocket. Fully manual on the DSG box, 65.67. Cracking run and left us 10th overall which was a cracking result for a 1400kg road car on road tyres. Won class a long way ahead of TVR on 71.73.

    Couple more pics of day:

Purely planted, or could you "play" with it?

Day 2 was till damp to begin with but started to dry up. Big GP circuit to run on today which I absolutely love. Times to aim at today were best time I ever did in my Ibiza of 102.46, 1E Class Record (Nissan 350Z) 102.33, 3C Pug 106 of Andy Larton 98.16, and my 4B record in the Radical of 85.31.

P1, went out steady, 104.57, which was suprisingly quick given the amount of stick I thought I had given the car.
P2, bit more, pretty much dry track now, 102.51, good time.
T1, got myself really ready and used launch control now the starting pad was fully dry. Recorded a 2.13sec blast to 64ft (normal was 2.5-2.6 secs) and went over the line at 100.52 secs. New class record by 1.82secs and a couple secs faster than I had ever been in my Ibiza which has 10years f prep and was on slicks. Well chuffed.
T2 and T3 were spend messing about trying to drift round Peel but still put in a 102.37 and 102.59.

Class win over TVR back with a 109.38.
    Other times were 1C Pug 306 104.60
Phil in his Fiesta on Mich slicks 98.94
Really nice 911 Turbo race car in 3C on 100.46

So the car did well for its first outing. Its going to take some learning to get more out of it but I am pleased with first results.

Pretty good play factor in the wet, very planted in the dry, with some odd effects where TCS was clearly intervening and cutting power. Will try with TCS completely off next time.
