Picked up this low mileage (66k) Edition 30 at the end of Jan. 2018-03-23_02-53-03 by GVKmotorsport, on Flickr Edition30 by GVKmotorsport, on Flickr Edition30 by GVKmotorsport, on Flickr s-l16008 by GVKmotorsport, on Flickr s-l16006 by GVKmotorsport, on Flickr s-l1600 by GVKmotorsport, on Flickr s-l1600_2 by GVKmotorsport, on Flickr Wheels have been refurbished Anthracite, Eibach springs and Milltek cat-back resonated exhaust are the only mods. Will be getting it remapped at some point, these K04 cars can be tuned to ~300ps pretty easily.
It's in good condition for 10 years old, was a shame to take it out of that bright, shiny showroom. Was snowing when I went to view it!
In case I need to do any diagnostics - My cheapy ebay Vag-Com (VCDS) cable which has served me well on previous cars - only works on the pre-CAN VAG stuff, and be buggered if I'm paying £225 for the pukka thing. Saw this handy tool for VAG stuff, that's been out about a year or so now called OBDeleven, it's a dongle that plugs into your OBD socket and uses Android device for the app. https://obdeleven.com/en/ £66 from Lithuania on eBay for the Pro version, you can get a cheaper one that has less features. #obdeleven by GVKmotorsport, on Flickr
Good to see you back Gary. What are your plans for it? Had my ed30 about 6years now, and it's still great. Rtech mapped to 362 so doesn't hang about.
Hi Martin, I'd like to get it mapped to stage 1 for a start before going down the route of HPFPs, larger intercoolers etc for stage 2+ Stage 1 should keep me entertained for a bit. Hopefully the clutch will not poo itself.
Welcome to the club! My ED30 is pushing 399bhp lol I still sort of regret turning it into a track car. It was a lovely road car, even if it's condition was not great.
Awesome! another Ed30 in the CGTI pack! I'm following all the builds with interest. A few jobs to be done on mine at the moment, and then I'll hopefully get some more time on track later this year.
Since buying the car in Jan every so often I had the ABS,ESP & TPMS lights coming on. Scanned for faults with OBDeleven, coming up rear wheel speed sensors mechanical faults both sides. 3 month used car warranty doesn't cover ABS sensors, so decided to change both rear sensors and rear hubs (the magnetic pick up ring is part of the hub bearing assembly) Could see where rust on the hub had built up and both rear sensors the ends were damaged. Cleared codes with OBDeleven and no more lights on.
Not sure Rob, worth a question on the OBDeleven forum? Edit - Looks like it's in Basic settings mate. Golf mk7 here Pretty handy tool for £60. Needs Android device though, no IOS support as yet.
True Mike still works out cheaper than VCDS for a home user. It uses wi-fi/mobile data for the information so you'd need a sim deal or something on your mobile device.
Itching to get a remap on the Edition 30 R-tech have quite a waiting list. Most local (60 miles away) Revo dealer in Norwich hasn't got back to my email I sent. I have Jabbasport about 20 miles away and they quoted £395 for 290ps +100Nm (400Nm) Cheaper still is a local place in King's Lynn A reeve performance, who use slave files from some company in London. £300 + VAT, with before and after power runs on their Maha dyno. Been agonizing for days who to go with lol
