Anyone got any idea how much a gallon of petrol
    weighs?

Or a gallon of diesel, assuming it is slightly more (?)

I have a good reason for wanting to know...!

But that'll be an American gallon, which is 3.3 litres (or something).
    Our's is 4.54609 litres/gallon.

So water is 1kg a litre, petrol is 720grams.

    720 * 4.54609 = 3.27Kg.

    There you go. :)

3.27x9 gallons[capacity?]= 30kgs if you fill the tank up, which is less than my dog weighs

it varies slightly dependent on fuel.

in fact, the fuel suppliers to F1 are currently working on trying to make the fuel they use lighter...as that gives a performance advantage (less weight to carry around). of course, its supposed to be pump fuel, so it'll filter down to the stuff we get. [:D]
