Our brand new Toyota Auris has a shift light, quite handy and can easily be ignored if you want to, ie not too noticably annoying. And as mentioned on something else above, it changes depending on what "spirit" of driving mode you're in.
Our MINI Cooper D has this feature too, I find it quite useful and it's sometimes surprising to see that it indicates to use a lower gear than you'd think for better economy. I always tended to drive in the highest gear possible for the current speed before noticing this, thinking that would be most economical.
Drove a mk6 2.0TDi GT DSG recently but didn't notice the shift light. I'll look again. Maybe it's only on manuals? DSG in auto mode wouldn't use it I guess. I really liked the Mk6 but then I've not driven a mk5. Do you know what issues Crispy? Barney
Mk6 GTTDI a great choice, only issue I've come across is the coolant pump shifts so much coolant it can drop below min level causing the light to come on, simple fix - raise the level ! between the mk 5 & 6 in engine departments not much
i've got the mk6 2.0 TDI and i hven't got that kind of feature on mine, would be a nice show off point to people but a distracting one for on the road driving, but yer that is preety sweet
