Cheers John. They didn't happen to measure the cam duration, overlap or lift did they ? The valves are sodium filled as standard, Dave Crissell told me that when he ported the head. I think the KR cams are fine because the rolling road plots of power and torque are very smooth. The loss of boost may be a leak, also could be the G60 seals (they were replaced no more than 5000 miles ago though, so I doubt it). Not sure how to check for a boost leak really, perhaps some controlled smoke ? I may just be chasing my tail as 6psi might be all that the G60 can muster in this configuration !!
John, I'm stuck for a reply here; I don't know. Their casting ID was 027M. The file however, dates back to 21 Nov 2001.
Nellis, Thanks for taking time to actually measure and validate the infomation that was posted earlier in this thread. I will update the infomation I posted with your actual measurements.
Out of interest, I have a pair of cams out of a late 6A Audi here. 051 103 373D head. This is the ABF type of head, but when fitted to a 6A engine it is running on K jet or KE jet, so may explain different cams specs from ABF. Inlet marked as 051 101 with a single letter H and a single number 1. Base circle = 38mm, Peak cam lift = 10mm Exhaust marked as 051 102 with a single letter L and a single number 2. Base circle = 38mm, Peak cam lift = 10.8mm The single markings could well be relevant as they are in 8v engines for identifying cam differences. eg Diesel turbo or NA
That relate to this piece of missing information? Is Nellis still out there with some measurements. Also I have vaguely seen the AAL code mentioned and could never find anymore information. Could you expand on some details for this 16v varient?
That, unfortunately, was the only OE 16v cams I had. The AAL was K-Jet and used in South Africa in the MK2. 112kW (150bhp) IIRC.
Nellis, many thanks for posting the 9A, ABF, and KR camshaft specifications - - graphics + hard figures = unbeatable combination By chance do you have any aftermarket cam profiles you can post, again comparing with oe ABF? Have fond memories of the table cloth, P.E. and Louis Trichardt, of all places!
I had quite a few.... until my previous laptop became part of our local "wealth redistribution program" [:^(]. This is the "old" Schrick 260 x 10.3mm (220.E1.601-00 / 220A1.601-00).
Great stuff Nellis, many thanks. A picture paints a thousand words... I am going to persist with my ABF cams in kr engine
I have found this on the inlet cam on my KR. Someone has ground away the "027" and stamped "933" on there. Is this normal?
Well, that sort of helps Can you/anyone elaborate? The cams in the car both say "027" (now "933" on the inlet) and "WTR" and they are in an 051 head in a 1990 16v. The cams i have in the garage from an 87 16v in an 027 head both say "027" and "WWO".
