Interesting bit of inside info today from a mate who had an inside track right to the heart of the Seat BTCC campaign - engine costs for a single Toledo BTCC car for a single weekend, providing no major damage, so 'general' wear and tear - 8K. Engine alone. Thats some serious running cost. Incidently - total cost for a front running Division 1 British Champ rallycross car for a weekend - 30K!.....again assuming no major damage....... Staggering.
Just stumbled upon this thread... The ACE engine was first used in the earlier models of the Audi 80. It was a special edition, homologation streetvehicle for their Audi 80 race-car. Full name: Audi 80 quattro Competition. The first series of Comps. had the 2.0 16v ACE engine, the later ones had the 6A. Dunno if you can still correct the sheets in the first few posts, but as far as I know the info above ^^ is correct.
It's easy to correct the first pages - no problem there. I will update the ACE to reflect Audi 80. Did the A4 ever have and ACE? Or just BTCC/STW cars? The ACE, as far as I know, came after the 6A?
Crikey Boss, I've told you before: Audi 100 6A. Followed by: Audi 80 6A. Followed by: Audi 80 ACE. A4s never had a 16V 2.0l motor. The 1.8l 20V was used instead. BTCC A4s used the 1.8l motor, with one inlet valve not operational. But, they still won! Even with 75kg of penalty weights.
Thank you Thought as much The Touring Car regs were crystal clear in that an engine could be sourced from elsewhere within a manufacturer range. There were other examples of this around too, possibly Volvo, poss Toyota, so definitely not cheating!

They do a little bit! They had much grumbling from competitors about the front suspension on the A4s, deviating from the OE concept they had to stick to, but got away with it! Booooooooooo!
IIRC. Audi just substituted solid equal length wishbones, for the multilink wishbones (sic), of the standard cars? Just like the front wishbones on a S*** **!
How about a table of specs and verified outputs for members cars Chris? Very interested to see if the game has moved on since the days of BRM, GTi Engineering etc, and we should have some reliable figures in a couple of weeks from Eddie.
At least it wasn't a Seat Ibiza engine! That would have been cheating to the point of rudeness! The A4 never had an ACE engine as far as I know. Could be that it had one in the US or somewhere outside Europe that I don't know of... The ACE was used from juli 1992 till december 1995. The 6A was used august 1990 till juli 1992. This was all in the Audi 80, never in the A4. And you're right, the 6A came before the ACE. I typed things backwards. Hi guys here are some oettinger infos from 1986 oettinger started to develop some kit for the vw head 1.8 based engine (KR) 143 BHP @6500 rpm , 175 Nm @5000rpm* 150 BHP @6500 rpm , 175 Nm @5350rpm 162 BHP @6800 rpm , 176 Nm @5600rpm this one was the most succesfull because affordable and efficient one inlet cam+pulley , one 4/2/1 exhaust manifold , a new rear box and an inlet system modification at the time the kit were sold 13730 french francs fitted 2.0 based engine 1.8 (KR) engine sized increased 82 x 94.5 max revs was reduced @6500 rpm 170 BHP @6100 rpm , 203 Nm @5200rpm* 182 BHP @6500 rpm , 205 Nm @5500rpm *the base engine was 16v with cat converter (germany and suitzerland) which i suspect the other version might be without cat hope that help

Just checked - it's this one: 16V Scirocco donor engine, rebuilt by BR Motorsport, Mahle pistons, 'O' rings, no capacity or c/r given. Two stage nitrous.
Pre-production 16v head - following a conversation with Romain @ the London Rolling Road Day yesterday: Helical gears, RHS, not chain drive. Romain mentioned a possibilty of Oettinger involvement in design?
