I work with upto 8" versions, and they are indeed excellent. A simple, yet thoroughly effective design that just last (if you don`t have to repeatedly remove and re-fit them that is...) What are those clamps on the wastegate, though? Look very nice too. (as does the whole setup)
you may well spot the join in the downpipe where I ran out of argon when tiging the downpipe, and reverted to my mig welding and grinding flatter.. why do you always run out of gas when midway thru a job on a weekend when everyone is shut..! doh! all welds fully backpurged btw.. next steps are add the missing lambda boss and egt sensor and get egt probe boss installed also, then off to zircotec for ceramic coating.
the gates clamps are tials own ones.. they are good but quite clumsey and chunky making them quite frustrating to use.. where do you buy your vbands from? finding a decent reliable supply of quality ones has been a pain.. I always need to machine the inserts to make the true size to fit the 76mm tube. cheers
I bought my last 3 from AET , quite expensive . I have seen and bought copy v-bands off ebay and they were junk , never fitted them , straight to bin . I guess you need a supplier direct from USA
I`m not sure where we get them from, TBH, since they`re OE-parts, but I`ll try and find out. The engines are Cummins, and the exhaust and coolant lines we use them on are either ours (Siemens) or our transmission manufacturers (Voith), so the clamps could either be coming from the US or Germany. Some of our coolant pipework may be around the 76mm area, actually...I`ll have a look tomorrow. May `appropriate` one for you to see if it`s suitable.
Do the pipes themselves have an OD of 76mm or the clamps? Our clamps are 75mm OD to suit 60mm flanges; We source them through Unipart, but they are manufactured by a company called Teconnex, who are based in Keighley. www.teconnex.com According to their site, they can do from 35mm upto 3metres... , so I guess they`d have exactly what you`re looking for. And just for fun, this is one of our exhaust clamps...
long belated thread update. One final tricky job I had to be honest been dreading... Squeazing in AP 4-pots with 305x28 2-piece disks under the customers 7x15 ET35 Pro Race 1 rims.. Well... with minimal changes to a previous 330x28 under 16" rims on the same VR6 hubs, the sample brkt from the 330's pre-modded for the smaller disks, was enough to give me the guide to update the dwg to make a proper pair for.
some painted bits on it now... Caliper brackets also completed and clear lovely.. 304x28 AP 4-pots under 15", 7x15 et35 pro race1 rims, on VR6 hubs
