Time we had one of these to refer to! Currently contains OEM + other combinations.

Applies to the EA827 / EA113 engines, ie GTI blocks, short and tall, with some carry over to the 06A internal water pump designs, restricted by crank availabilty.

Anything missing, let me know. Anything that can't be done, I'll remove the greyed numbers.

    Bore / stroke combinations

    Blue - OEM capacities
Black - OEM parts or aftermarket parts
Silver - theoretical, all subject to bearing diameters, rod dimensions & suitable pistons / end compression ratio.

90.5 cranks were made by Oettinger to enlarge the 1.6 engine. This was in time superseded by the 94.5, the 90.5 ceasing as the 86.4 beame mainstream and the capacity race edged towards 2 litres+.
94.5 cranks were initially made with 46mm big end bearings to suit the 136mm rods on the 1588cc EG engine and similar. This later changed to 47.8mm to accomodate the 144mm rods of the DX-onwards. The Holbay crank was used in the UK by GTI Engineering, possibly to work around the fitment issue initially on early DX => cars.
99 + 100 cranks assumed to fit in bubble blocks only

Well done mr chris nice topic

So H block max bore 83mm but no room for a rebuilt
Max stroke 94.5mm with some block grinding for the rods to swing by
And the smaller gear for intermediate shaft or grinded gear

For the EG block I believe there is less thickness on the cylinders so smaller bore I think 82mm max to be confirmed
Max stroke is 86.4mm maybe 90.5mm but not sure about that neither

I believe F3 engine was 94.5 mm stroke
And read that oettinger was doing a 99mm or 100mm too

I know of a french tuner boring DX up to 84 mm and fitting 92.8mm cranks with block work

I did see the kit car kit for sale on some german tuners website
With 90 mm crank 150 mm rods and 84mm pistons

Cheers Alex, now showing in black as a known modded spec (turbo, but there's only so much I can get in that table).

That table is tight, could you squeeze in a column for 81.5mm bore diameter? My KR with standard crank is now 1803 cc.

    Also check cc with 82.5 and 99mm crank, 2117cc. 6A/9A/ACE 1984cc 82.5mm bore, 92.8mm stroke :)

    2117 corrected, thanks.

I'm missing the point ref: 6A/9A/ACE

Will try to get that extra column in.

Chris, EG engines were H blocks in 1980, before that they were 1.6 blocks. So for your max bore table, the row with EG could be changed to '1.6 block'. Cheers

As it's simply bore and stroke combination, I wouldn't worry about induction method.

Was waiting for someone to post the link as laptop not working only Blackberry for now

I think the post say it all .... different block dimension
And thicker wall on H block
    Robert Collin sources
As well as H block used on formula 3 engine not 1,6 block

    EG is engine types
But they came with two different block 1.6 stamped and the H stamped block
I would say 1.6 was there first then H came after
Let's not forget the H block was design to fit as standard the 86.4 crank (1.7)
    Which will explain the upgrade
    Nothing sure tho just assumption

But sure it take bigger stroke crank and got thicker walls

So I think the info is right as it was? I can't see the smaller EG block coming after the H, so it has to be that order. I have added 1.6 to both rows.

so what crank and bore/stoke combo does the RE1900 gti engineering engine have?
and would the pistons be a standard off the shelf item or specials?

    thanks
