  1. Hi....

would a k-jet 16v fuel distributor fit directly onto the 8v air box without modification?

I'm not sure if your fuelling would be right though. Might be worth comparing some part numbers..?

I did this many years ago when I did a 16v engine into a MK1 and worked perfectly.

  6. Additional info>>>

Through advice sourced on the forum the best way to increase my 1.8 8v k-jet fueling system now running a 2E engine with usual mods over the years, branch, head work, matched ports, cam & free flow etc is to upgrade to a 16v fuel distributor & 16v WUR.

The advance is backed way off already to prevent pinking which is audible on acceleration.

I'm running a 16v metering head with an EV head (standard) and 2E block with no fuelling problems

  8. Did you notice much difference in fuel consumption?

No, there was no noticeable difference.

  10. Did you have any issues with the engine starting after installing the 16v metering head. I've swopped my 8v for a 16v unit & it just wont fire up.

I'm wondering if the metering head is dead or if there could possibly be an air leak between the metering head & air box which is sealed by the cork gasket??

Did you replace the cork gasket?

    Thanx

I'm sure I've spotted kits for these which come with a rubber gasket (??? Not sure about that, perhaps my memory playing tricks) and all new crush washers etc. etc. - and everything else you need - maybe worth getting one of those? I'll try and find the link again if you want.
If it was me, in my novice knowledge, I would have replaced the gasket for the reason that it's cork, and also pretty cheap. Just to kind of be sure.

  12. Thanx for the reply - yep I have seen the cork gaskets once on ebay.co.uk or .com. but not recently. Probably easier to source a roll of cork gasket material & cut to shape.

Is this the one you're after?

I still remember seeing the "kit" I was talking about. Might have to try and search it out. It was aftermarket though I think.

  14. Correct that is the item, sourced a roll of cork gasket anyway....
Have added a few pics :-)
