Tyres

    What tyres are you guys running on the track, I've got a set of toyo t1r at the mo on my wheels, but I have a set of pro race 1.2 that I got cheap and was thinking of a set of tyres for the track for them, I've got my 1st proper track day next month, not sure whether to just use what I've got for now

    Federal rsr are a cheap grippy tyre to get you started. ;)

    Just messing - but it's what my MK3 has one at moment need to flip them off but for size I need the RSR's come in very pricy

    apparently the nankang ns2-r (semi slick, not the normal ones) are very good and a set of 4 in 195/50/15 can be had for about 260

    The federals are 228 a set on mytyres at the mo

    Try camskill. They're prob cheaper and price match

    Paul do you have a properly baffled sump?
    If not you're going to have oil pressure issues if you have lots of grip[:x]:cry:

    Thought it wasn't worth the risk as I've read a few engine fail threads on here due to high speed cornering low oil pressure:cry:

    Then why do all race cars have baffled sumps?

    You are right. If you run tyres with high levels of grip ( slicks) and you can drive to match, then on some tracks you can get extreme lateral Gs that will cause your engine oil to climb the sump walls away from the oil pick up tube.

    In such a case a baffled sump is highly recommended :thumbup:

    It's is recommended. But not mandatory. If that was the case no one would be driving on a track without it. There are many people on here with track cars with high grip tyres and just a windage tray with no oil pressure issues.

    And we're not talking federals either.
