I am 25 of the finest years old. I’ll try my hand at anything, no harm in trying right?

Oh cool! I can indeed, and I even have the good spanners [:D]

I bought Britool (when they were Britool) spanners as an apprentice and they still serve me well when I'm at home working on the cars

I buy Snap On because I’m a tool snob and it’s what I’ve always used growing up. Although I did start off with a Halfords mega set, which is now used for smashing sockets onto broken stuff and making tools

I miss GTi International - a different but good show.

In the immortal words of my uncle, who was a bit of a ladeeez man in his younger days, but is slowing down now...

"now it takes me all night to do Once,
what Once I used do all night!"

I feel like I’ve totally missed the era of good car shows.

"narcissistic, banal, vacuous and empty", and like Cat from Red Dwarf they probably regard those as their best qualities.

I am all for progress but there is something to be side for simpler times.

You drove the car not the car drove you.

You didn't need to remove the bumper to change a bulb.

You actually saw the engine when opened the bonnet, not all covered with black plastic.

Keyless entry - what is wrong with an actual key?

Other than a Rolls Royce - very little was over 2 tonnes in weight.

Ambient lighting was you switching on the interior light (halogen bulb natch)

Trim levels made sense - L, GL, GLS.

    15" wheels were deemed big.

    Audio builds were a thing.

Absolute fact - and if you didn’t want the car stolen, you did things like, disconnecting/removing the battery and didn’t have to worry about the bloody thing lighting up like a Christmas tree when you reconnected it or refusing to start.

Trim levels made sense - L, GL, GLS - and if you really made it a GLX. I do remember many years ago a fellow in my town with a Ford Cortina 2.0 GLX and make no mistake he was practically revered whenever he turned up anywhere with that car.

The 2.0 was impressive in itself but slap a GLX on with that and you were a proverbial 'water walker'

What about limited edition cars, that weren't just a sales ploy, and when Vauxhall did the cavalier calibre, to rival the cossie.

    "safe spaces",
    "I identify as a man/woman/trans/wallflower/apache helicopter"
    "tik tok"
Go on out to f**k and cop yourself on ffs.

I'm deadly serious, I'm only presuming it's the same in the UK as here, but there's such a lack of real "blokes" here, ie young men like @Savagesam who can weld, fix a car, put up a shelf, mix a load of concrete etc... I really don't know who's going to maintain the automobiles of 15 years time, or build and maintain the houses.

    F**kin' jessies..

You speak the truth my friend and I said it earlier in this thread that we will run out of people who can build, install and maintain stuff - we’ll have plenty of ‘influencers’ though - God help us all.

Not being taught about finances when young, not being encouraged to stop binge drinking and financing cars, but rather put it into the stock market.

i still have not invested in the stock market, but this is something i intend to do this year.

I’m not old but I certainly don’t like the upcoming generations, they’re so entitled

I first heard of 'safe spaces' with regard to universities - my first thought was "is it a uni, or a creche?"

And I can recall 'phoning (yes, actually calling on an old-fashioned phone) a tyre retailer and, after saying I was looking for 15" tyres, being asked if they were for a Saab or a Jaguar, the only numerous possibilities at the time.

There's an option now when buying a car (and maybe other things), called PCP. I thought it was an illegal drug, though that's probably less dangerous.
