I bought a new thermostat coolant flange and cover for my ABF engine, but it never came with a clip to connect the two parts together. Anyone know where I can get a decent one? I bought one off eBay but it was very weak and didn't hold. Thanks. The images are of the two parts I bought from VW Heritage.
if its going in a mk2, you probably better off getting a mk2 thermostat flange. but it depends what was done when the engien went in. anyway mk3 flange clip is 037121142A. the plastic one you pictured there is for coolant sensors
Part no. 037121142A is listed as a coolant temperature sensor? I can't find one from a UK seller on eBay? Don't suppose you've got a link for one?
Well you may be a lucky boy Look what I have in my stash…….brand spanking new. It is this one on the Heritage site https://www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/030121121b-thermostat-housing-flange-including-seal.html If this is what you need then it will be the original cost plus desperation charge, scene tax and postage, say a £1000 ? Kidding, a fiver posted but check its what you need first.
As Rubjonny has said, it might be easier to stick a MK2 one on. I only put the Mk3 one on because it attached to the 90 degree angle part, but didn't come with a retaining clip to hold them both together. Also, the bottom hose that was on had a kink in it at the thermostat housing as it didn't have the 90 degree elbow. Might be easier to get the Mk2 housing and just buy a better, flexible hose? Actually, f@ck it. I'll send you my address. Give me your details for sending you the fiver. Cheers!
I know. I'll put it on and get a decent bottom radiator hose with enough bend in it, so it doesn't kink.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232794030387 its actually £1.36+VAT from VW though. but yeah if you're using a MK2 rad+lower hose a mk2 stat flange will fit perfectly
