Wife has a 2009 Golf Plus running a 1.6 TDI (cayc) engine and DSG box. We've had it for 2.5 years, now showing 90k on the clock. Bar a slightly hesitancy when setting off from first since we got it, it has always been fine. Yesterday I noticed that the gear number on the dash (D1-D7) was flashing. Car was driving fine. I'm sure I've seen it do this in the past but this time I decided to read fault codes using the Ancel VD500 code reader that I have. What I got back was a listing showing 4 transmission fault codes, of which 3 were the same: 3 x 06079 - refer to vehicle service manual 1 x 02113 - Transmission fluid pressure sensor /switch A: range / performance The last time VW had it, they noted an oil leak from the mechatronic unit but told me that it would require £400 just to investigate. Could it be as simple as low oil level? Happy to top it up if the procedure is easy enough. Oil leak is so mild that it will not leave any drips on the driveway. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated! Aware that DSG boxes can cost quite a bit.
Interesting... Could it be linked to a low oil condition? Topping up oil is simple enough (although I think this box has a synthetic/mineral oil transition at some point). Edited to add: Local specialist thinks it is a mechatronic issue that will get worse over time. £570 if it can be repaired, £950 if not. That’s a lot of money but nowhere near the £3,000 ish figure that I have heard from VW for what I’d assume is a new unit. They wanted £400 to diagnose it before replacing...
