Hello all, has anyone on here retrofitted a DSG gearbox into a MK2 Golf or similar?.

Will the gearbox physically bolt up to a kr/9a/abf engine?, same with the flywheel etc?.

Seen a few aftermarket controllers in design but not a great deal of info on the internet.

If anyone has any good links I'd be interested in having a read!.

Would be a 2wd job for me, the boxes do look quite compact from what I've seen?.

    Cheers all, Keith.

    Cheers all!.

You roll the dice I suppose Gary, I went for a Getrag Powershift in our family tow car and touch wood it's been the right choice. Obviously after saying that it'll go bang over the weekend!

Getrag Powershift is used in Fords and is very similar to VAG DSG, When I went on a course at Fords when they first came out, they were talking about it as if it was revolutionary.

I was like "Hang on mate, this is the same as VW have used since 2005!!" lol

Jamie at Jtech is setting up a DSG on an built ABF motor with throttles. They are using an aftermarket ECU to control the lot.

Sadly I am not able to fix the pictures in the ClubGTI links as they've been removed from photobucket too. Sorry dude.

    Can do later tonight.

I have quite a bit of information on those gearboxes to make this thread a new reference if required. That thread was 11 years ago let me remind you!

That's true. Maybe we can make a brief 'DSG into a MK2' thread, or a retrofitting DSG to make it a bit less in-depth.

Any info much appreciated, been busy over the weekend but still interested in this.

Shame Photobucket were so snide with the picture hosting. I use postimages.org and they've been great so far.

Been a long time Gary and our Powershift did go bang!, I ended up fitting a 2017 6DCT451 to our Mk2 Kuga 163 Titanium X (only one ever done apparently?). I just seem to walk from one nightmare into the next!.

Worth a read for a look at the pictures if nothing else.

Saying all that I still fancy a DSG in my Mk2, must be mad!.
