Why 12a over 13b? to fit in a class?

12A is better exhaust ports ( PP ) plus smaller dimension ( shorter )

if i were to build another it would be 13B as the 12A parts are rare now.

Yes, 12a housings are a real struggle, which is why I asked, anyone who has good second hand ones here sells them to historic racers for twice the price of 13b's

    i've got a few options

Plan A - Rebuild existing engine to 84mm bore with higher compression pistons
Plan B - Use spare block 83.5mm with high compression pistons
Plan C - The above options with new head and cams
Plan D - As above but 95.5mm stroker
    Plan E - Top Secret
