    Indeed, but rather bespoke!

So is this commonplace Japanese bike kit, or some olde English bike unobtainium?

Would I consider Jap. Crap or English Rubbish?[:s]

I have posted on here of my ownership of:

Superb East European ISDT bikes. And, of superb Italian 'Moto' bikes.

Put two and two together and you can work it out!

It can't be the Italian stuff - you'd only buy those for their engines if the cars are anything to go by - so the ISDT? My bike horizons reach as far as a Vespa 125cc however!

I've got the parts to do this and supplied a spare to Nige ages ago to do his, he had it done in a week or so, i've still not got round to it [:^(]

My parts, i also have a mk1 gearbox bracket with a poly bush fitted:

Other info i'd gathered, some parts are for an 02A into a Mk1 but share a similar principle:

I was actually in the Latin/Greek stream at school!

Did not do me much good, as my A-Levels were: Maths, Further Maths and Physics! I was crap at languages, including English!

Google 'Tureg'. Ignore the wind. And, concentrate on the bike. Then. Work out which, crap bike, was supposed to replace the 'Tureg'.

MZ taking the eastern european side, MZ baghira being the only bike I can think of that MZ have produced in my liftime that was paris dakar worthy and recently enough to have linkage like this.

Unless I am underestimating the eastern europeans bike design skills and infact this is from something earlier. I guess Yamaha and Suzuki had linkages like these in the early 80's maybe MZ where the forefather of this linkage.

If i'm right can I borrow Miss Daved for a weekend?

I only made the convoluted cryptic posts cos. someone upset me, by suggesting that I would have owned a Jap Crap bike.

I bought those bits, together with forks yokes, USD forks, Brembo Gold calipers and Tureg Competition wheels, to convert my Moto 6.5 to a PD type bike. I never got the rest of the cash together to do so, and sold the Moto last year to buy slates.

The MZ reference was purely to show what superb taste I have in having owned the only pukka MZ works ISDT bike imported to the UK!

Also through from Mr Dogwood, again off a Polo kitcar:

And what I assume is a top gearbox => inner wing mount (Nick?):

Tricky to get your head around what goes where....

... but the gearbox has the mounting points:

.... so I assume this is the right orientation:

What does "Nr" mean - it's always on these yellow / green labels on the pukka stuff?

I don't do German, but I do German eBay :p I make this "gearbox"-something! Mount?!

    Dribble.

Yep, painted steel fab bolts to end of box and anodized alloy lump bolts solid to the chassis leg.

Crikey! That is a serious piece of kit!!!!!!

It is so 'over-the-top', form an engineering point of view, for the job it has to do, that is has to be uber important?

Are the front ends of these cars space frame made from tubes?

EDIT. Just read Dogwood's post regarding chassis leg. Wrong again it appears![:$]

Was anything done to the front engine/gearbox mount on the VW Motorsport cars? Did it stay/go/get modified with the fitment of the dogbone?

A thought occurred to me a few nights ago so I better chip it in here, it wasn't that obvious to me at the start, why I dont know, considering Ive just spent about 100hrs studying F1 boxes and engines but heres what I reckon.

Mounting the engine this way, would seem to me, and I think you may agree, that the engine/box becomes a slightly stressed member, not much stress now, but I believe mounting it this way, either side between the turrets could only but improve/assist the flex of the two chassis rails when cornering.

The simple dog mount style brace at the sump line to subframe ensures torsional forces of engine are kept at bay when mounting it this way, and transmitted said forces to the subframe.

    Sounds plausible I reckon.

Interesting rear gearbox mount from a UK Mk2 installation. Non-works but was a nice car:

I believe that a mount from the gearbox is not ideal.

One needs to know where the centre of gravity is, between the two outer mounts.

I would guess it is somewhere closer to cylinder three on the engine?

If you look at the standard mounts.

The gearbox end is roughly inline with the original.

The crank pulley end is out-board by 50mm or so.

So: The centre mount should be 25mm or so towards the crank pulley end, compared with the front centre mount.

Assuming that VW balanced the load paths originally!

Closest we have is cylinder 2 & the same mounts when used in longditudinal installs, but this would likely get in the way of drivehafts:
