The number plate FFS, was pretty much what my wife uttered![8(]

Oh well the noise of the car will drown out the noise of the wife

Yes you should be able to use the new clocks in fact it would make life easier as it is already matched to the new ECU just a matter of swapping key blades to the part with the immo chip and use you existing remote

Mileage is a easily to change with vag tacho if you are really bothers you

Edit as I'm thinking you on about Bora sports clocks

You may also be able to code the existing clocks to work by changing the soft coding if the v6 ECU is the same as mine you just clear the known values and it excepts the clocks in you Bora
You would use the soft coding of the v6 clocks though you may have to modify it slightly

Most clock are the same just different foils and software between petrol and diesel

The 4 motion being X reg will it imm2 so the ECU should expect any clock once the the known values are cleared

Do I need to buy one of the expensive vagcom leads? Software and dicking around with software isn't my strong point! Happy to learn though.

    Yes mate, I wore gloves.

I have no idea who lets a car get in that state.

Checking the gearbox out it's a bit grumbly until you engage a gear and lift the clutch, so I am on the hunt for either a V5 box or another 4 mo box. Or send this one to Hotgolf??

Just an idea, are the diesel 02M the same as the petrol but different ratios? Could I rob the casing, that would make deleting the transfer box neater?

did a compression test to confirm the engine is healthy.

    1 - 12.5 bar
    2 - 12.7 bar
    3 - 12.2 bar
    4 - 13.0 bar
    5 - 12.3 bar
    6 - 12.9 bar

so that seems ok to me

    They are different.

Keep it simple. Run a 02J V5 box and compare axles between yours and a V5 and move from there.

Moving on to phase 2 which is the brake upgrades.

    Part one rear brakes
At the MOT the tester commented that the handbrake was only just a pass and rear discs were about had it.

So new vented discs, new pads, disc splash guards ordered along with rear wheel bearings, rear strut top mounts.

And had some 6mm spacers for the calipers to carrier as I am told the 4wd carrier are different?

Just got to refurb the calipers and carriers.

    Part two front brakes

I am sure you guys know but the front 280mm brakes on a mk4 are impossible to upgrade, similar to the 239mm setup in a mk2 the carrier is part of the hub, so I’ll be using the V6 hubs, with new bearings, hubs, discs and pads, and splash guards, I am also going to replace the wishbones and both ball joints, the car already runs a V6 ARB so I know the bushes and drop links are ok. While I am at it I am going to replace the top mounts.
