This is my second golf that I bought a few years ago for spares with the idea of eventually scrapping it but after a bit of thinking I decided to tinker away at the shell for a bit and then once it was done I could find a donor and build my ultimate golf. It was a cheap car to begin and probably not worth putting much time or money into but I would rather rebuild it for fun and then I know what I have. I am picking up the mk4 donor tonight. Most pictures of the build so far are lost on old phone but I have some.

More primer. Was followed by seamsealer and under seal but I lost the pics. I think I might have been better to just paint 2pac under the shell like the rally guys do? Instead of underseal 20160926_174437.jpg

Instead of using the aftermarket wings that came with the car I decided to fix the original ones and carefuly weld in the big bumper bits that were not there due to e reg

Sun roof delete. Never again. Had the sunroof been original I would have left it. Cut out panel, stitch weld it in then bonded and riveted strip to inside of roof skin to stop leaks. Then a fortnight worth of evenings with tedious fillering. I'm happy enough with it but when/ if I put a cage in I will also budget for a carbon roofskin 20190912_115822.jpg

Donor :) now for the fun bit.
I dont know if this the right part of the forum for this question, but I don't want to open a new thread if this has already been covered.
What brackets and mounts do I use when putting a mk4 agu into a mk2 golf? I read what ones are needed when using a mk2 subframe, but I am using a mk3 subframe? I don't want to use a solid mount if possible.

Making progress with this build. I trial fitted some of the seats and interior when i was waiting for the ignition amplifier to come in the post.

After the engine was firing on all four i removed it on Thursday evening then removed the loom on friday, and routed it through the bulkhead. I have decided to use the complete mk4 loom insted of using the qpeng adaptor loom, mainly because the mk2 loom was trashed

I have a few questions about steering columns and uj linkages but i cant post a question in the misc part of the forum for some reason. The car has manual steering column that i dont want to use mainly because the mk4 stalks and ignition probably wont go onto it.
I have spent all morning searching forums etc and cannot find out what uj linkage will join the mk4 column to mk2/mk3 ps rack.
Here are the two columns side by side.
