Why thanks, Still not really feeling the teardrops but you don't see many about, Had a go at the show and shine got some nice comments which was good, sadly only about eight mk2s in it.
Not much of an update but I am chuffed, got my little holy grail of cassette player accessories together, just received my casette cleaning kit to go with the Votex cassette holder and the blaupunkt security device in the blaupunkt hu complete with an iPhone input ... Cassette cleaning kit Votex cassette holder Blaupunkt SQR88 and Bluespot cassette lock
Well have done my best replacing the photobucket missing pics, trimmed some rubbish out hope it reads well. Some random pics I think are missing over the years Good old national meet weather Oh and he is now back on his original vw embossed number plates
Great to see you back. Car looking as amazing and inspirational as ever. Thanks for tidying up the thread.
Long time no update...A few more pics from here and there ...Poor old boy has been locked away for over a year with an occasional warm through and flip around the block And to think these bicycle tyres were once viewed by some as quite sporty
One of interest, might cause a chuckle ...a few years ago at VW Jamboree in Cornwall... group air cooled judges ...(water cooled haters) picking my car to bits...
Can I ask why the bonnet isn't all the way up while they're looking at the engine bay? Did you just want to make them stoop and bow before an exceptionally clean and original Mk2 GTI? If you did I'm fully in support of this - it's only proper the air cooled brigade should show some proper respect
I have a short bonnet prop which I use instead of the normal prop to stop the bonnet blowing around in the wind or keeping the inevitable rain off the bay... As air cooled people they are used to tiny beetle bonnets ( oh err) and I don’t think they worked out it went wider ....
Say no more....to paraphrase a song I know "scorn not their simplicity only try to love them all the more"
Damien, your mk2 is outstanding! I’ve been looking through this thread for the first time today as it’s been years since I was a member. I’ve just got my mk2 on the road again after 17 years, it’s been dry stored all this time but needed some work for its mot. I thought 68k was low mileage that’s why the 34k caught my attention. You’ve set the bar really high, well done!
