After a good 2 hrs searching, I cannot find any mk4 platform (golf,bora,mk1 audi tt, A3, Octavia, leon) car that had a mechanical throttle pedal. I've fitted an AGU and AGU harness (its a runner..) but the car (A3 8L 18T Sport) still has its original fly by wire throttle pedal) I want to retain the simplicity of the cable AGU throttle operation. Anybody done this? If so, what did you use? Thanks Jon
Bought a Haynes manual and it lists an AGU as a possible engine, so it can't be that hard, or can it? Jon
Thought the agu golf had a cable throttle, and sure the 1.8t a3 auto in the scrapyard I got some bits off was cable, but was quite a while ago. What about the low end diesel? Could try stevensvw spares, or there is a guy in Halifax area that breaks mk4s, I'll try find his details pal.
1J2721507H for pedal, bushes 1H2721178 and 1H2721177 plus a cover 1J2721779B which doesnt look strictly necessary. You probably need brackets for the bulkhead but ETKA doesnt show these andso they might be welded on, you dont see many people converting back from electronic pedal to mechanical more the other way round. as for donors MK4 golf, bora, beetle A3, Leon, Toledo, Octavia were all available with cable throttles so you'll just have to get scrappy hunting or see if you can find someone who has gone the other way
Cage is absolutely mega. I have spent some time looking at every connection, and cannot find a flaw. I know how difficult it is to add tubes to a cage and get a pro result. I have tigged one or two.. Car is being prepped by me as a clubman comp car, something I think is dying a death big style now. Its staggering what cars are now out doing clubman events, yet cost north of 10k, well north... Is it me? Disposable income has always been my driver, maybe things are different now??? R Jon
