Hello all, names Art. Just wanted to say hello and letting y’all know I will be posting a lot of Q’s lol
Hello Bud Lovely bunch here and really happy to help, I've asked a few questions and had great response's which prompted me to become a paid member, and so far no sarcastic responses from people lol which was terrible back on edition38 forum What you driving? Mark
I can vouch for all the helpful folks on here as I am asking loads of questions myself. Welcome aboard.
Welcome, agree with all the comments, it's a great place to be and getting busier which is very good.
Yes it is!! Not a whole lot of people know of older VWs where I’m from so it’s nice to have a busy forum! Yeah I imagine it was bad! Lol I appreciate the warm welcome from everybody! I drive a 1989 VW GTi 16v. It’s my baby!
oh nice look forward to seeing the pics, i oh nice look forward to seeing the pics, is it daily or just something for the summer months? Any plans for it
It’s for spring, early summer and fall! The 100+F summers with no AC are not fun. I will post up some pictures here soon! Only plans is to get the idle fixed. My mechanic (Chevy guy) tells me he feels is a vacuum leak which is less worrisome than a failing ISV
Welcome to the forum ! I would use some carb cleaner round the inlet manifold while on idle, if there is an intake leak then engine will start galloping a little as it’s drawing the carb cleaner in ! Another way is to fit a pipe stopper/plug with a tyre/shrader valve and presurise inlet manifold from a tyre inflating compressor. Spray soapy water onto inlet manifold/cyl head mating faces, if there is a leak it will be obvious as there will be loads of bubbles!
