1998 Audi A3 although I think all mk4 golf platforms of this era have it Five black wires go to it. Is it a sensor (transmitter)? Is it a valve to brake the vacuum (i hope not) Help appreciated thanks Jon
Not sure, but I know bmw have a vacuum sensor, and is used in certain conditions, like start stop, but not sure on audi at that age, not much help. Is it worth looking up on etka, 7zap etc to see what attachments are on the servo, or part number to Google? Sorry not got time at mo, but will try later.
Just shows a seal for vac hose on a3 and golf, can't see a sensor un a quick look. But if Google a3 8l vacuum sensor it seems is one and it is for the esp. Found this quickly, is it similar on a4? https://www.pelicanparts.com/techar...-Brake_Servo_Pressure_Sensor_Replacement.htm#
Thanks, I have just found a reference to a vacuum sensor ploughing through my old haynes manuals, so I hoping that's all it is. Jon
Looking at the a4 info it's more brake pedal related, know that you can alter stuff on them with vcds or something, read it when looking at brake upgrades for mine ages ago. And mentions esp, so if not wanting all that gubbins I'd Try it without .
Yeah, just had engine box out to get at servo, and replaced it, because it was leaking. Long story. Anyway, cant see it being a vent valve, as that would cause brake failure, potentially... Jon
Thanks Jonny. Car is now loaded, ready for a double header autocross at Witney, Oxfordshire this weekend. Brakes are A ok. Can't wait... Jon
