Bought a repro one, but it's a tiny plastic thing nowadays, had an original in my minor, Ana a turtle wax turtle on the dashboard top. Remi do me of my dad getting petrol in the 70s and 80s, and when you went in the shop it had the air fresheners next to the sweets, flying saucers and rainbow drops, plus some super sour 'bombs' that had bright red coating on them. Apologies, rambling.
If it's m8 thread, look for clio centre cap bolts, think Vauxhall too, they are the 3 dot type and a little harder to undo with normal tools, I've got them on the borbet As
Good Times, my dad always had one in his work van back in the day and it's a nice albeit expensive period touch. I showed my wife it and she remarked oh yeah I remember them, all the taxis had them Charming!
After meeting up with the legend that is @dodgy this week, I came away with a replacement rear bumper as mine is looking tatty:
Fitted the trim to the new bumper and popped it on the car with a coat of AG bumper gel, far better! There's a bit of overspray on it which I'll sort at a later date, it needs to come back off anyway as theres a bracket missing which I need to order plus a bit of rust to attend to over the winter. Overall very happy - thanks again Dave!
So after having a set of VDO gauges in my old MK1 I've been lusting after a set for the MK2 for no real reason other than I like them (and been able to keep an eye on vital stuff going on in a 33 year old engine can't be a bad thing) after getting a set for a none scene tax price from a guy on here I set about fitting them. First up make up a lighting and power loom as the one that came with them wasn't great: Then bolt the senders in: They came with a plate to mount in the centre console: Which after a waft of black paint will do for a quick and dirty install until I come up with a neater way (or maybe I'll leave them as is) Not fully pushed in as they need to come back out as waiting on new bulbs, will use black adhesive pads rather than white next time as white was all I had at hand and just wanted to see if this method would work. All in fitted and working for the sum of 60 quid including a tenners worth of wiring and connectors, not bad I think
Fitted the gauges proper the other week, sealed the pod in with black silicone which blends it in quite well and of course is removable should I end up taking them out. Bought a private plate for it the other day and a large box full of parts to refurb the rear brakes, so that's the next job!
Popped into the garage this evening to check the old girl is still there - looking a tad neglected after being parked up since early September
To show I still care I bought a couple of sets of sunroof lift arms as mine are held together with cable ties - a stainless set and a mint steel set (the steel ones I shot blasted and powder coated at work) Not fitted either set as advertised them both for sale and will fit the set doesn't sell
Need to spin it around in the garage to refresh the back end (ooh err) with new brakes/bearings etc so that's next!
Looking good. I might of missed it, but is the headliner from headliner world on eBay? If so whats the fitment like?
It is indeed. Fitment is spot on, didn't need any tweaking anywhere and all holes lined up exactly as they should. Mind you for nearly 200 notes including delivery it should fit like a glove
It’s not overly expensive, if you look at the price of the Garage Close ones from Belgium. Sounds like it’ll be a summer job for me.
Taxed the old girl and rolled it out the garage today for the first time since September, took a ride out to Haworth for a pint and it ran faultlessly.
