   I have a mk3 16v engine in my mk2 but it has the old v type alternator belt and brakets from a kr engine i want to upgrade mk3 alternator and brackets.my question is is the 2e mk3 8v engine alternator brackets and power steering brackets same as 16v abf

   you can use all of the MK3 8v parts except the crank pulley. this needs to be 16v as the timing belt sprockets are thicker as the 16v has a wider timing belt. you can machine the 8v pulley down a bit, ideally make up an insert as you loose the centring hole once machined down
