Hi all so done a 16v conversion on my mk2 Rocco. It’s a 2l and bottom end with kr top end.
I bought as a running lump saw video of it before I bought it.
early mk2 gti 16v kr management
Got it all wired up and various start up and idle valves all working as should (thanks to rub Johnny) starts and idles perfectly, and revs up beautifully when stationary. However when I drive it it’s bogging down and cutting out at lower revs.
    Spec is as follows.
Mk1 gti fuel pump which I have a 13mm gravity feed from bottom of tank to a mk2 16v accumulator (to large Union on accumulator) then out of small union on accusatory to filter at front then into metering head. Out of metering head to return in tank.
    16v Rocco air box
Angled dizzy cap, standard mk2 Rocco coil
Done the various how to tune your 16v thread all injectors squirting nicely and equal amounts.
The only thing I have noticed is when at TDC on the cam and bottom pulley the diamond on flywheel is nowhere to be seen could this mean the timing is out if a cam change has been done previous? Not sure what flywheel it’s got. (Mk2 gti 16v box)
Any thoughts from the collective mind?

Back to basics so, check TDC with no 1 plug out. Make your own flywheel or pulley mark, then check the ignition timing.

so you're saying at TDC the punch mark is there and lined up but you cant see the diamond? if so the flywheel might not be a GTI one, no big deal make your own or get a timing light with advance wheel to get the base settings right then tweak from there.

On a mates carb mk2 I snapped the end off an ruler and put a bit of tape on it to use as a handle, dropped it down the gearbox hole then used the haynes EV measurement:

if non of the timing markers are visible then the flywheel has been put on wrong, you'll have to use the crank pulley TDC marker and use an advance timing light to set your base 6 deg figure to work from
