Hi all, new to the forum and need some wisdom. We’re in the process of converting a mk2 from an 8v to 16v (KR), fuel pump primes but doesn’t continue to run, no fuel at the injectors. The engine harness has been changed to a KR back to the fuse box but the fuel pump wiring, relay etc is unchanged, does this need to be swapped?

    Thanks, Tony

fuel wiring is all the same 8v and 16v, if it was a kjet 8v before then you need to change the fuel relay over to a 67, 80 or 167 though

Thanks John, the original 8v was a Digifant, does that make a difference?

the digifant relay is fine, it should be a #80.

if that all checks out and the pump wont run while cranking then next check is distributor and wiring from it, the 16v wont run the pump or try to spark the engine if it doesnt see a signal from this

18 is a load reduction relay, this will bring the fuel pump on all the time with ignition. fine for testing, but unsafe in the long run becasue it wont cut out if you crash. You need a 67, 80 or 167

Thanks John, it’s a race car so not sure if the previous owner put an 18 in for a reason? The main pump primes on ignition but then stops, have ordered a 167 to try.

if the pump primes then stops it must have the correct relay in already, as an 18 relay would just have fuel pump stuck on with ignition? fuel relay is slot 2 for CE1 fusebox and slot 12 for CE2?
