Hello all, Im going to the ring at the end of this month for 4 days,

I've treated myself to some 195/50/15 NS-2R semi slicks, which I can get mounted to either:

    15x6 et35 BBS RA's

    or

    15x7 et13 BBS Mahles

I ideally want to get them on the Mahles, as I think 6j will be too narrow for these tyres?
I'm a little worried with the offset of the mahles being so low..

My arches are rolled and plastic chopped, I'm not home at the moment otherwise I would have my tape measure out.
can anyone advise which might be the better option? maybe post a picture of your mk2 for reference?

here it is on the mahles, with 185/45/15's ( the rear has 8mm spacers)
I've already raised it a fair chunk, so it wont be this low..

    any help is really appreciated,

    Thanks

6J too narrow for 195/50/15? This was standard fitment on most Mk2's with 15" wheels (or the 185/55/15 alternatives). I've just ordered a set for my Sebrings! The Corrado came with 205/50/15 on a 6J too.

In terms of lowered cars I know of with BBS RA and 195/50/15 tyres, some are -80mm and more without any real scrubbing issues. You'll be riding much higher than this I'd imagine if you're after performance from your trip around the ring.

I run Ronal LS which are wider but have a slightly higher offset than the Mahles - the 'poke' from the arches is roughly the same (0.5cm more in case of the Mahles). They have 45 profile tyres, but I know of others who run 50s and are lowered by 60/70mm again without issue.

Add in the factor that you've had your arches chopped and rolled, and you'll more than likely be fine, so long as you don't run things too low.

Thanks for the reply! the reason I said 6j may be too narrow is, with semi slicks the side walls are harder than 'normal' tyres so some manufactures rate them for a certain width, i think iirc toyo R888 say wheels should be 15x 6.5-7.5, which is why i think 6j may be too narrow...

I have just found this picture online, this guy is running 195/50's... which has made me pretty confident I can pull this off, I think ill just need to be aware of the differing in sizes between normal road tyres and semi slicks..

I think you'll be fine whichever wheel you mount them on, being mindful regarding ride height. It's just a slightly different setup to the low-slung, skinner tyres that you're used to.

Love the car by the way.
