As above really. The wife's golf plus, 2.0 GTTDI BKD won't start after a fuel filter change.

I've changed the filter before and had no problems. This time I started it, got a little way up the road and it cut out and now won't start.

Because I think the filter wasn't full of fuel when I changed it I've now topped it up with diesel but it still won't start... Can anyone help?

    Thanks
    Dan

Did you replace this seal .......................you should have

And if you removed fuel pipes have you put them back in the right place [:?:]

Would not recommend bumping a diesel. [:|]

Taken fuel hoses off and turned ignition on.... No fuel came out so I'm guessing it's the pump. (Should I hear it prime like the mk4 pumps?)

Is there a fuel cut off switch anywhere I should check before getting a new pump?

And is it back seats out to get to the sender in the Golf Plus (sliding seats)

I hate to bang on about a ford but the galaxy was exactly the same.

I don't think the pump works like a Mk2 petrol one, it's a 2008 so could be the same technology as yours. If the big hill didn't work I would have bump started it while being towed.

I can't see how that would work if the pump isn't pumping fuel

Maybe the ECU sees the speed sensor and tries injecting fuel ? [:s] I really don`t know, just guessing.

Most have the pump on the engine if it gets air locked after changing the filter
It's a pure pain to get going again

As said bump or tow start it

Just throwing this out there, when I used to change the fuel filter on my old Volvo S60 D5 I struggled to start it and thought I'd screwed something up as it wouldn't start after a few seconds of turning the key.

I then read on a forum way to get the the Volvo D5 engine going again was to turn the key so you can hear the pump prime, then turn the engine over constantly for 30 seconds. If it hasn't started by then stop for a few seconds, then try for another 30 seconds.

I firstly didn't like the sound of it, especially as 30 seconds seems forever when doing it. But eventually it did start and found I had to do this every time I changed the fuel filter on the Volvo.

I would try that though as it won't take long and wish I just kept cranking the engine over rather than bailing after 5-10 seconds worth of cranking.

The recovery guy tried turning it over and over to the point the battery started to drain.. I'm at a total loss where to go now and what to check next

Was going to say is your battery in a good state? From memory does turning the key without cranking it prime the engine? If so, maybe turn the key to prime on and off a few times, then maybe jump start to car to give the engine enough juice to crank the engine?

Guessing the glow plug lights go out too and you can hear the fuel pump prime?

Yep sadly that's all been tried. Recovery guy had a jump pack on the car when he was cranking. All lights go out fine.

When he tried a few squirts of easy start it didn't even splutter.

Recovery guy not tow it for you

    Can guarantee it's air locked
Mechanic at work did the same to a ford Mondeo
Tried for hours to get it started
Ended up towing it with the forklift to get it started
