    Time to revive the thread

    I've got a 2.0L FSI Engine to pick up 06D EA113 block

Options are to get a kit made up to fit my ABF bottom end

    Or

Use the Complete BVY engine

Spec will be 45mm throttle bodies
    Cat cams
High compression custom pistons (final spec to be confirmed depending on what fuel i run)

    bump this thread

AS well as better flow from the head ,also a big weight saving from the engine

Developments -FSI BVY Block weights 19.4kg ( 23kg lighter than a ABF )

this one has just been shipped out for a project ;)

Interesting stuff. I've got a few FSi and TFSi block in the workshop, but no use for my classes - has to be std type! They have a nice girdle design. Throw away all the internal oil pump, go dry sump and bobs your uncle :)

There were some questions though, as to whether the alloy block was strong/stiff enough for serious power. Depends on what your looking at of course, but I know Colin Satchell went for a diesel block in cast iron block for his hill climb car over the alloy block. Ok, he's 270 odd bhp I guess, but that's well within the capabilities of an FSi headed motor.

Even the VW/Audi works cast Iron blocked motors ran girdles and stiffening plates.

I know the F3 Fsi motor runs over 200bhp on an alloy block, so not that bad.

Its not so much that the block will break I think, but that is will twist/bend, causing tightening etc. and reducing power or even running bearings.

I've not heard of any failures, but VW must have got Cast Iron on the turbo for a reason.
