Matt D used to but he's got a 9A now

    I believe speedo's 2 litre 16v is a BRM built KR block

I may be wrong but I think a KR block needs a fair bit of machining work internally so the 2 litre crank can physically turn :o Under piston oil squirters can't be used either

Just get a 9A or an ABF ;)

I dont think there is any satisfying me[:o)]

The KR is running so well and I love the top end pull, I was told that the 9a doesnt rev as well as the KR.
Any idea what has the best potential KR or 9a?

    If you've got a 1900 KR you won't get a 'revvier' engine

9A will not rev as well unless you go for some mad cams (IanBs 9A revs very well on his 268/276 Schricks)

As you may have read on here last week, I got 171bhp 151 lb/ft at Stealth last Sunday with stock 9A head and KR cams

My 9A peaks at just over 6k - where (ie what rpm) is your peak power?

Mines a 2.0l KR. You don't need much machining. You just have to take a little divot out of the oil pump platform so number 4 conrod misses it. Gary is right in saying you can't use the under piston oil squirters.

    Mine revs pretty good. [:^:]

KR block 82.5mm pistons 92.8mm stroke crank,
    SP Performnce cylinder head,
Stealth inlet cam mod (running two exhaust cams),
    K&N air filter,
    Scorpion exhaust,
V-Sam Pro for programmable fueling and ignition via my own laptop,
Rebuilt gearbox with APW 5th gear (0.85:1 instead of 0.91:1)

Don't ask the power output as I've not had it on the rollers. I'll get round to it one day ;)

it doesn't matter which block you use kr or 9a.
    Whith
kr cams and 42mm inlet (my set up whith kr block), you would not rev happy after 6000-6200rpm.

Its the 92.8 crank that limits high revs.
As Gary said you need "mad" cams

if i remember corect my mechanic did a
patern... so i use the under piston oil squirters.

I think that the question is if I need the extra mid range torque or not, your 2lt must go well in the mid range. Have you had it on the rollers yet?

    no rollers tested :( yet....

    BUT!

at the mid range it pulls much more
    than as a standard kr 1.8l [:*:]

there is no 4000rpm step enymore :)

    now it pulls from 2800rpm!
i don't have to rev it the hell out of it [:^:]

    much more quicker now [}:)]

Your're better off with a factory 2 litre.
My old 2 litre KR went t1ts up at Combe in july.
All the teeth were sheared off the intermediate shaft gear where it connects to the oil pump shaft. I only know of one other person that this has happened to but the 9a is a better design here [:s]

I bet anyone here who has gone 2 litre on their 16v will agree with me that they are so much 'nicer' to drive with mid range torque than an 1800 'screamer'

That goes for road *and* track use ;)

mine has 40.000 km. No problem so far!

when i bored it I change the oil pump and the intermediate shaft gear where it connects to the oil pump shaft.

i hope that not happens to me :o

thats correct Gary ;) has nothing to do with the 1800 'screamer' [:^:]

I think that for now Im going to leave the car as a 1.9lt, I cant quite decide what direction I want to take the car ultimately.
