    Died today at 4.23pm
Peacefully in 2nd gear on a square left corner.
    Fate dealt her brutal hand.

Here's to 6 years of fantastic fun :)
The road trips, an autotest or two, Kames last year.
The B road blasts, the roundabout near Asda on a Sunday morning,

    thats a real shame [:^(]

if you decide to fix it give me a shout, I have all the parts except the bonet cluttering up the place. I'd much rather they went to a good cause than mucking about on ebay!

Very sad sight indeed, hope you're OK.

Surely this isn't the end of the road for the poor thing?!? Buy it back off the insurance company and use the insurance pay out to repair it!! I did this with my Driver many years ago.
    Otherwise it's another one gone!![:^(]

I would be gutted, that looked a very nice example of a mk2. Did it have a gti engineering lump in it or am I thinking of something else?

I was going too fast for the road conditions.

Fairly unfamiliar road but I knew the curves
A tight left handed turn under a bridge.

Road was that damp greasy way.

The braking zone err merged with the turn in point.... as an artic appeared to reduce my margin for error.

I went for the handbrake which would have saved me but hey this is a mk2 golf handbrake.[:x]

If you look in the first pic you can just see the centre line of the road in the tarmac and the artic is not much over on my side so my driver error.

I cant get angry as it was my fault. I was driving too enthusiastically and it didnt work out.

I would happily take all my
driver errors whilst in 2nd gear;)

    After getting recovered home
    To add insult to injury
I started the engine to move it and it went on fire at the meter head area
    ..... fortunately I had a powder extinguisher.

Dont think the shell is worth repairing

Drivers door now misaligned so door hinge area deformed.

it was a mint shell but its a major task to get this straight again

What a complete sh*t - I remember it used to be a minter too [:^(]

Think a reshell is the only way forward tbh; wouldn't fancy trying to straighten that [8(]

[:^(] another mk2 bites the dust. On the positive side though, metal can be replaced, limbs and lifes can't so as long as you're ok, that's the important thing. Chassis leg is definitely bent good and proper so repairing it will be uneconomical. Buy the salvage off the insurance company (if you're claiming) or just break it, i'd be interested in those recaros ;)

Feel your pain, my Jade 16V died in similar(ish) circumstances last May but has mysteriously reappeared as a J plated big bumper. Good luck whatever you decide and glad you are unscathed.

Just read your text. I'm so sorry to see this.

Most important thing is that you're ok but that was a special car and I really feel for you.

Have a couple of thoughts, will be in touch tomorrow.

Sorry to see this too - your words are a fitting tribute though! Like you say mistakes happen.

All the best with sorting it out one way or another.

    Cheers
