I am looking to hook up my 1.8T to the existing loom of my kit car. Does the positive feed need to go via a starter relay or can it go direct to the starter with control via the ignition switch? I also seem to have a memory of a wire coming from the alternator - is this correct and, if so, which wire?

Thanks Notenoughtime. It has been so long since I looked at this sort of stuff and the engine I took out was a bike engine with no alternator and a separate starter relay. Is the wire yo the alternator a permanent live or an ignition live?
