Yes, give Stewart a call. The dry sump should be pretty easy to recreate. The Drake dry sump consisted of a Drake casted dry sump oil pan, a bunch of COG gear pulleys, and a stack of Weaver pumps. In theory, all you need is the dry sump pan, and everything else can be easily custom made at your local motor/race shop. You wouldn't need the Weaver pumps because you could use any other pump stack available on the market today. Then you'd need just a set of pulleys (easily custom made), belts (easy to acquire in the proper size), and a mounting bracket for the pump stack. I'm willing to bet Stewart could still supply the dry sump pan, but I doubt he'd have any of the pump brackets because those were all custom made (as I recall). So you'd be on your own for the pump bracket -- but any good race/machine shop could make one in an a couple of hours. Good luck, Robert

At the end of last year I was passing through Street with a mate, and I mentioned that Arnie Levic was probably worth popping in to see. So we did. Very knowledgeable chap, with an awesome story to tell. His father worked on repairing Wolfsburg after the war. He could write a book on what he knows. The Beetle origins. I need to call him - he was happy to chat later sometime, but was fairly busy with the workshop. He confirmed that he did have a 16v Graf head, and sold it to scirocco-turbo off here some years ago. I think it may have been sold on again?
On a slightly different matter, are you REALLY sure you want to put that 6spd conversion up for sale?! If it goes you'll be kicking yourself!
a couple of posts of the Vortex forum regarding the Graf heads. http://www.clubgti.com/forum/s...cross They made good power. However as they were originally designed for f3 purposes there are meant to be potential oil return issues because the engine is longitudinally mounted. Dry sump would likely help. I've also heard from other sources that was meant to be major schrick involvement in the original development of the heads. there seems to be a lot of rumour and random conjecture surrounding these heads, so I can't really vouch for the accuracy of anything I've just said. Best of luck getting it running. What sort of stroke are you thinking of? and talk of a Graf crate engine,but as said above its all rumours nice link i hadnt seen that one, I know where the head pictured there is and from what i know a company in Cali that collects vintage auto setups has a graf crate engine.

Stopped bidding @ 3300 GBP... Oettinger motors are pulling insane coin due to the new generation of "scene" points. No one is going to buy one of these motors to go racing....there are just not as disposable as they once were. If you are looking to make a 16V head that: 1. Flows well 2. can incorporate a multitude of configurations then the 2.0 TFSI cylinder heads seems to be fitting to bill nicely. No different than what we did with the 1.8T cylinder heads , i.e. weld and plug some oil return ports , delete the vaccuum pump off @ the rear of the head to run a distributor and voila welcome to the 2006.
Didn't know he was selling that - Seller is Irish, will be interesting to see what it sells for. Shame he never got around to fitting it. Brian,

I wish my oettinger engine was worth that much lol I think it's the fancy inlet manifold that makes them so scene Mine being a later one is just a modified KR engine and head with some trick bits
